I did check out numerous Systems inside that Nebula, but didn't spot anything unusual.
Seems all of the Systems in there are long-explored already. Tourist spot basically.

Yah - after I re-simulated the route it took me to much further destination... the question is, do you consider the "Edge of the Galactic Arm" to be the Rim of the galaxy? or just the end of that particular spiral... *speculation abound* I'm currently at the edge of the galaxy as of last night and am exploring around various systems... just not sure if I will find anything.

Yeah, might not be the Nebula(though still worth the trip), could be a particular star.
Could be anything that the needle points to
It could have moved.......
I can see this being what our Cmdrs discuss over some zero g coffee

CMDRs may wish to consider the, ahem, core of the problem.

Cheers,

Drew.

So a wingman and I discussed this and we followed the line the other direction, is is sort of core-ward and the only notable thing was NGC 4463 SECTOR RY-R E4-5 & whilst that was a very worthwhile trip no dice for what the Pilot was talking about.

I am still search the nearby systems as I arrive second after my Wing Man

With the AMA and David talking about "non celestial" objects that have been in since 1.2 I wonder if this is connected to that....

Core of the Problem could also refer to the Heart and Soul Nebulae but that is no longer following the Reorte - Riedquat line.

I have looked at the map along the Reorte Riedquat line in both directions now rim to rim but there are just so many systems it would be easy for one that is a unique name (rather than the procedural ones) to slip past if there is no other signifier, like a Nebula.

I wonder if there is some connection to the Prism system.

Acaleus Thorn, I realised you're the same Cmdr who I helped with a little astrogation a couple of weeks ago for the Formidine Rift. :)

Drew is being an utter tease! On the one hand there is this reference to Formidine Rift, then there's upcoming Galnet news becoming "less nebulous", a reference to Lady Kahina, and mention of the "core" of the problem.
If you need someone to check out anything coreward, I reached Sagittarius A* last night and I'll be pottering around this area for at least a couple of days.

Ok I'm going to throw a quick question here

On a recent trip to That particular Nebula see below

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=138357&p=2116682&highlight=#post2116682

On my return journey about 800ly from the Nebula heading towards populated systems Which means I'm still more than a 1000ly away from population I came across a WSS while scanning some planets

I didn't investigate due to the amount of data I had accumulated and wasn't properly equipped

Question ... Finding a WSS (weak signal source) this far out is that normal or not ?

A question for Drew:

The woman, in the OP, talking about the experience. Is it Rebecca Weston?

I was really expecting this thread to have died down by now... happy to see there are people still visiting it. I'm guessing some relevant google search keeps bringing users here. Very well then... allow the collaboration to continue.

Yes Choccy - it almost certainly is. However, I'm pretty certain (not really) that the name was not mentioned because the Oolite Saga is technically unofficial lore.

Well the description at the end of Reclamation is identical to that of the woman in the Oolite saga. Now, will there be any clues in those books as to the Formidine Rift? I know it's mentioned by name in the 3rd book.

Also, i'm not certain the NGC 7822 Nebula, is on the course mentioned in the book. When I checked, it took me someplace else. Basically, I lined R&R as best I could (zoomed out, until I could form a perfect eclipse on the galaxy map), then made sure the galactic plane lined up to the 2 systems as closely as possible. I then hit 'W' on galactic map, and it sure didn't take me to that Nebula, by a few thousand light years. Maybe I did it wrong?

Hmm, makes me want to head out again. I think Heart & Soul are in that direction too, but maybe there's something not in a nebula.

hmmmm this thread (for some reason tis his thread that has spurred it on for me) has me ready to sell my assets, setup an asp for deep space exploration and head out into the black in some direction no one has been before...

No I agree, I think the Nebula was just the closest obvious thing near that line.

I have tried several times to do what you have described to see if it lines up on a Named system, as opposed to a Sector one, but no luck thus far.

The Heart and Soul Nebulae might be an idea as that could be another definition of core of the matter

Yeah, I think this may be a good lead. I'm tempted to swap back into my Asp again, only this time I'm going to be thinking about its armaments. What are people thinking about for the armed Asp?

Alternatively, if the Courier has a good jump range, I may make the trip in that come 1.3 in that (after all, that's what Kahina went in, right?) - though I don't know if I want to wait until then.
