Enclosure Building Fails

I laughed so hard at this bit. BECAUSE IT'S TRUE!

"Must. Resist. Urge. To. ESCAPE!"

- A wild animal has escaped! -
That's the Reason why I have a Glass-Wall in the middle of the Path inside of the Tunnel in my Ape-Dome. I hope I will find a better Solution or another Design for the Observation-Hut that fits good in the Design of the Enclosure

Good old "adults can't traverse, but babies can" - I admire his camouflage btw :)

I really hope they will fix the traversable Area for Animals. It annoys me that some Areas that should be traversable for adult Animals can't be traversed. My Reindeer can't go into their Stable, my Rhino's can't go into their Outdoor-Enclosure, my Grizzly-Bears can't go into their Cave. No Animal needs 5 km to fit trough a Opening

I actually don't have problems with that, I just put in the animal after the basic setup is done and check the heatmap while I'm building the habitat. It's only with the reptiles that I get the "problem", or rather "reminder" of babies being a lot smaller.

I've only had it with ostriches. The adults were fine, but the babies were able to jump onto the rocks that formed the outer barrier and escape.

I do think the traversible area thing is a bit of a joke, though. I put rocks around a mud wallow to make it look more natural but the gharials couldn't get over them even though it was almost exactly flush with the ground.

:D The story of today's failure has to do with a river, a boat ride and a habitat for bongos and okapis.

1. My innocent thought: "Well, they can't swim through steel and underwater ropes... or can they?!"

2. Turns out they can also swim through it when the rope is replaced with solid wooden pieces. No picture.

3. "But surely some lowered rocks will do?! - Oh my."

4. "Well, at least I'm getting some funny pictures."

5. Good news - I managed to block it AND leave space for the boat :D

I think this doesn't really count as a Fail. I think it is more like something that needs to be fixed. Reminds me of my Orangutans that sometimes climb trough Walls because the Walls are decorated with Logs and my Grizzly Bears that climb trough the Walls of the Hut at the Entrance of their Enclosure (the Walls do completely consist of Rocks and for some reason only the Bear Cubs can climb trough it)

Well, I can take it with humour and find a workaround, so no problem. :) Now they can swim on both sides of the boat "rail", that is even more fun for the guests, I think.

If I had to guess, you had facilities there before the lake was created, but removed the facilities and built the lake all while the game was paused.

Way more screwed up than that. Decided I wanted to do a hippo lake with a massive underwater viewing plaza (think one acre or more), glass walls, glass ceiling to see them swimming overhead, all that good stuff. This viewing area would be so large I decided to put a food court and shopping area in part of it to draw people in- all underwater, mind you. So I went ahead and did this, with the game paused. Built the whole area stalls and all, more glass walls and ceiling than you ever saw, put the water in, lifted the whole group out of the water to start on the tunnel to connect with the rest of the world, unpaused for something else... then remembered those poor vendors who had dropped in with the new stalls. The second after hiring I literally chucked them into a giant lake.

I hope they know how to swim 😆
And I hope if they are in the middle of the Lake that it isn't as big as my Flamingo-Pond
Well, it will eventually become my flamingo pond when finished... as well as my hippo pond... for 20 or 30 hippos. So that gives you some idea how big it is.

Oh that's a good one, nicely done. Well, if you continue with the built, it would be neat to see it when it's finished.

I too am a fan of doing big herds of hippos, but I've never been able to get the underwater tunnel system to work for me the way others do it. Did you use a specific tutorial that you'd be willing to share, or do you have any pointers?

I found a basic tutorial video by a Youtuber named thegamingbeaver (who got it from paulsley). Episode 7 of his series (and its just a let's-play series, not in any way a technical building instructor, but he is really fun to listen to just for fun as well). Shows you the basics of how to "break the game" in just the right way. Also, I've commented under this name on that video describing my own (painfully extensive) lessons learned trying to build like this.

At least it isn't as big as my Flamingo-Pond. But bigger than the Area of it that is Part of the Enclosure

Not exactly a habitat fail. But have any of you already accidently overwrote a project with another one? Well, I have. Weeks of work just turned into dust. I could slap myself!!!
