Engineering in Beyond - do I have this right?

Im not happy with this change, having to start every upgrade form G1 to G5, but i was thinking about the new crime & punish system, where the ship becomes wanted and not the player. And how easy it is for rich PKers to just change to another FAS, FDL whatever ship suits them to murder innocent commanders. And how easy is for them to have a fleet of these ships to keep harassing others. But to engineer all these ships with the new system. Every module from G1 to G5 in a fleet of FAS, FDLs, etc... from Shield Boosters to Power Distributers, Weapons, etc, etc...

Maybe this new engineering method will also be a deterrent for those players. Maybe for some at least...

You're quite opinionated on the matter for someone who has never used engineers before.

I just got done G5 upgrading all the modules on my new Chieftain. The entire process took me less than 10 minutes to do the entire ship. (No weapons but All Core Modules and Optional Internals which includes a 5A Shield Generator)

I lucked out that I had all the materials available, except I ran out of one for completing my FSD upgrade. I was about half way through the G5 process, but had already hit the +50% OM spec.

My arguments about the materials and data capacity increases reducing any perceived grind is definitely right on the money. The perceived grind is a total non issue. and I didn't even have close to 100 of any of the mats or data required to upgrade this ship, yet I had enough from the old system's inventory system to still complete this entire ship. (Minus Weapons)

The only questions that remain is how will these completed G5 upgrades compare to the ones I have in storage from the old system. On my way back to my home base now to find out. :)
