Engineers dont care about module size

There's an easy way to implement this that doesnt't increase the grind.

Right now, it takes average 9 rolls to max out grade 5. What if for small modules, it took more like 3 or 4. And for medium modules 6 or 7. Keep large at 8 or 9.

size 1-3 are small modules, 4-6 are medium modules and 7+ are big modules.

This kills all birds with one stone. Makes most ships (much) cheaper to engineer, restores immersion, makes more sense (in as much as anything can).

Whaddayathink guise?

Ok so to take the mats out of it,id agree it might add another layer of complexity thats not needed with mutiples needed for different stuff, keep the requirements that are there now,no increases or decreses on any of them.

Then add some sort of multiplier to smaller modules that they require less rolls to max each grade?

It would reduce the requirements overall for small modules but not interfere with anything else as it stands now. Each class going up to 8 would have the multiplier, getting smaller each time with C8 having no multiplier.

On the surface that shouldnt look to different to what we have now

Pretty much my suggestion earlier. Keeps everything the same but just has a multiplier for small modules. No need to mess with mat requirements then.

Mechanic is already there because of how levelling the engineers works.

Slightly faster progress up the engineering track for smaller modules sounds fine, no objection as such ... but let's not pretend it will solve any complaints about engineers and grind:

- before 3.0, we heard from hundreds of players who only rolled 1-2 G5 rolls per module anyway and decided that was good enough ... and with the stretches in specifications, just delegacying those mods to max-G4 will make many of them better. Now, we hear from hundreds of players who absolutely must completely max out every module on their ship because hours of grind for 3 m/s max speed, 0.2 LY extra range, and 10 MJ extra shielding is definitely worth it.

- the number of rolls to get a fully maxed module decreased by approximately 1,000 rolls per module between 2.4 and 3.0, and still people complain it takes too long. The only solution is to make all G5 mods available at max spec for free - any smaller reduction will lead to continued complaints about the grind once a week has passed and people have got used to it. Something mild like 2-3 fewer G5 rolls if you're flying a small-size ship is going to be literally unnoticeable to most players.
