Engineers rework...

Absolutely great i agree,
i just would love to have one central engineer that has all blueprints on lvl1 to allow
for swapping experimental effects there.
The travel time from engi a to b to c is just a time-killer.

A bit grindy but engineering is better now and my part timer friend who only plays once a week if that says its nicer and more accessible.

Yes there is the grind (who i don't mind) but at least we are sure of the results !

Before 3.0, engineering a new ship was like going to the dentist : regularly painful and sometimes for nothing (I have a good dentition ;)). Now, it's like going to restaurants you know about. Most times it's good, sometimes it's meh, but finally you rarely have a bad surprise.

It feels like proper upgrade path rather than guess work and that's why it feels OK after re-design. I am still not big into Engineering but I happy to see many people approve changes.

Yep, I think the new system is a good improvement.

I was somewhat against remote engineering, its just too useful, but if we are going to have it I'm beginning to think you should be able to pick an option for each engineer-able module at an engineer or heck just go for it and make everything available minus experimental effects. If you have to engineer locally to build rep and get experimental effects then perhaps that's enough and after that just let people have access to their available options after that. Maybe add a few extra things they can do for you or something to keep you coming back once in a while...

Anyway, yes, good improvement :)

Must admit, the ability to create identical modules appeals to the "OCD" part of me and making XFX independent of upgrades was both an epiphany and a no-brainer that should have been in the game since day 1.

Still not keen on the grind or the lack of diverse gameplay related to engineering though.
There was an opportunity to create so much more, instead of just bunging in mat' traders as a band-aid, which was wasted. [sad]

That can be a pain, but its not too bad. With most ships having a mostly decent FSD drives these day it doesn't take long.

Not too bad and doesn't take long still means it is somewhat bad, and takes extra time.

For me it's really bad and takes way too long.

The idea behind the new engineering was to encourage people to swap over to the new system.

I have so far swapped Zero modules to the new system, but have used the remote workshop to modify many many modules.

It seems like a bug/oversight, considering the goal of encouraging the change over.

Yes, no more RNG as an outcome has fixed engineering for me.

I don't mind the grind because at least now I know what the outcome will be!

Thank you FD.

Ok Ill bite...no...now fer the fun bit :D

Im a recent convert to engineers having ignored them entirely since their inception...the last rework was when I saw the light and Ive actually become quite fond of them which is more surprising to me than I thought it would be. Ive just unlocked Selene Jean so Im still on a buzz feeling while starting to experiment with hull tanking but...I actually like engineers as they are...few little tweaks, twerks and a shake of the booty here and there certianly, but a full rework?

No...imo enough time has been spent on them and while not perfect, they as good as we gonna get...or as bad depending on yer point of view. Lotta other things have had to take a back seat to get them to the point they are now and the salt flow from them has been pretty much decreased significantly from what it used to be...so enough is enough.

Onwards and upwards as they say...if its not broken then dont fix it ^

I'm happy to see that many people like the new engineer system.

And... yes, this is the Frontier Forum and i mostly see complaining thread so when i think something is good, i like to talk about it.

I did not try the remote workshop and material trader for now as i have few experience with enginers because before 3.0 i stopped the engineers when i unlocked grade 5 FSD with Farseer.

Now i'm going to unlock them all and give a try to this materiel trader and remote workshop.
