I use a Warthog, so was able to reuse a bunch of the same buttons that I have set for other features. Wasn't sure it would work, but I used my boost button to enter the FSS screen, since you can't get into FSS unless you are in SC, and the boost button does not operate in SC, so once I'm in the FSS screen, all the bindings are set from the controls on the joystick and throttle. After toying with it some last night, I will have to change some of the bindings now that I got it figured out some, don't know how to "splat" or map a planet yet, but was able to scan a whole system and find all the USS signals and planetary bodies.
I kinda like the new feature, although it is a bit more time consuming now, and I don't know if it will be good to sit for an hour or so scanning a system in the bubble if you are just sitting in open space waiting for a pirate or another commander to interdict your stationary ship. But it is neat that I don't have to travel to the far ends of the galaxy to scan a distant body. And it was nice to be able to find a High Grade signal source 3k ls away without having to fly aimless around in SC for an hour hoping one would pop up.
I will soon be ready for my trip out into the black again with my new 62 Ly Phantom. Although, now that I think about, I like my ExploraConda for the 75 ly range it has, but I only used it when I knew I would be 'fringe hopping.' But didn't like it for other exploring because of the poor SC handling, if you came up to a planet too fast, it was a tedious thing to turn that slug around on target again. It was ok every once inwhile, but really gets tedious on a long journey and you do a hundred times or so. But now, with the new feature, SC handling is no longer a 'thing' since you sit still and just go into FSS mode.....
