What parts of the UK are you visiting? Be aware that there is a big divide between southerners and northerners. Southerners are generally referred to as 'soft' and northerners and 'resilient'. This image might help you understand:
Down south, people don't generally talk to eachother on the street. If you say a passing 'hello' they will either give you a weird look or just ignore you, whereby in the north, people are far more friendly. Liverpool is one of the most welcoming cities in the UK, and held the title of Capitol of Culture. Well worth checking out.
If you get a chance to, visit Wales. It's lovely. North Wales is the best part, it's where the real welsh culture is. South Wales is kind of ok, Cardiff Bay is nice for a day or so. (There is a north / south divide here too) Visit the coastlines in North Wales, they are fantastic, and along the way you'll probably go over the top of the mountains - thats lovely too.
Much of england is flat and plain, Wales is better. Don't be put off by signs being in two languages, some people find amusement in trying to pronounce place names like Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch - Yes it's a real name
Just come to Wales instead

BTW we have a dragon on our flag
