guys I love this games series!...used to meet up for massive convoys and drive about uk and Europe lol...

I now play ATS aswell as the scenery is lush to drive through...and the off road mods to Alaska are just like ice road truckers!...awesome.

I use headtracking, drive force gt with shifter,i also have a 7 inch tab with the telemetry for the speedo on display.....also I have another tab next to my gear shift that has the sat nav displayed on it using OBS.

yes I do love to sim it!.....now started to play it in my gear vr......its just a wicked and very very addictive game.

if I was to switch it on now and play it,well id be on for a few hours at least.

still go back to ETS2 at times when I want normal "british" roads to drive down though....;)

I am happy to announce that truck simulator games will soon be redundant.

See, you too can take part in shaping your own space version. By simply raising a couple of posts frequently to state the difficult AI is grieifing you, then you - yes, you - can help convert ED into "Space Truck Simulator".

hehehe.....*ducks*

ETS is a masterpiece of a game - they sure did something right and allowing mod support just extends the game even further. I don't have ATS yet but I really need to get that too :)

I ran ProMods for a long time. But now I run TSM 6.3 plus RusMap and a few others not connected directly. It gives a huge road system. I've loved the game since the first ETS. ATS is also good, run that with Mexiscan and coast to coast. A little sparse but good nevertheless.
Very relaxing game.

Anyhow, here's my ride and my pride:

I bought it yesterday in the Steam Sales.

Oh my god this game is beautiful! I cannot get over how well made it is!

Within minutes I bought a ship-load of DLC for it. Don't regret it. Awesome game.

Highly recommend getting it before July 4th. [yesnod]

I have hundreds of hours on ETS2 and I can confirm it is amazing.

The modding community is astoundingly good, producing stuff that is arguably of higher quality than what the actual devs put out. Some of the truck mods are incredible.

From what I've heard, TSM seems is a bit hit and miss with the modelling depending on when it was done and you have to start with a new profile. When I've explored the default map (including the 2 DLC) I'll look at installing promods and rusmap. I might try TSM after that.

I have to say, I'm very impressed with the support for mods by the developers at SCS. The way mods are integrated in the game and managed is done really well. It's great that they encourage the use of free modelling tools (ie. Blender) as it makes mod making more accessible to everyone. It would be great if there was something similar for ED but I don't think that will ever be the case.

I didn't start with a new profile, plus the quality has come up some from the early days. They have Spain, Portugal, France, Gibraltar, North Africa, Italy and so on. I find the quality o.k.
Rusmap works well with TSM, but you need to get ferries in. There is no road link, only with ProMods.

ETS (as well as some of the 18 wheels of steel series) has a large legion of followers because it excels as its purpose: making the player really feel like their driving a big rig in a "real" world, and living a truckers day to day life.

Its simply immersive (for some reason this word is frowned upon, although its the main reason I play most games).

I'm not a hard core fan by a long shot, by I enjoy taking my rig for a spin every once and a while.

I’ve been playing ETS2 since the day it came out, and no lie it’s one of my top five favorite games of all of my years. I love it so much that I bought a G27 wheel just for ETS2, lol. I have well over a hundred hours hauling stuff all over Europe while listening to many the odd music stations in languages I do not understand. The developer SCS is IMHO one of the best devs in the industry today, very straightforward and interactive with the players. I put them right up top with the likes of Valve and Blizzard. I never hesitate nor balk at supporting them by buying DLC for ETS2 or ATS.

I now pretty much just play American Truck Simulator though. I’ve actually been to many of the areas modeled in ATS so I find it more engaging, and I can’t wait for them to add more content over time, especially more rigs. The soon to be released free map scale enlargement was one frack of an awesome move by SCS and it really shows the lengths they are willing to go to make their game the best that they can.

Here is the Kensworth I’m driving currently, it’s not as modern as the other rigs in the game but I’m enjoying it:

Finally got 'Frosty' working for my TSM6.3 mod map. It had been causing problems. I've missed it, glad to have it back after so long.

Saw a few gameplay videos - I guess there's no police in the game.....

Not really but there are speed traps.

American Truck Simulator has police that will fine you if you are speeding and occasionally they'll tell you to pull in to the weigh station. However, they don't stop your truck or chase you if that's what you're asking.

I'd never heard of this, but it looks awesome.

ETS2 and ATS (American Truck Sim) are surprisingly awesome simulator-light games. The concept might sound kind of dull and dumb, but the execution of these games are incredibly fun and engaging in a soothing yet appealing way, an almost zen like experience. That might sound silly, but there are strong reasons why these two are best sellers and consistently get huge player counts on the steam rankings. They are just legitimately good games, and they are two of my most very favorite games, no lie.

Cool. It was more a comment about the driving I saw in some clips - gong the wrong way around roundabouts, going straight over the top of cars, etc :)

Really like the look of them, will probably pick them up at some stage.

Peterbilt 389 now added to American Truck Simulator.

I like to keep my trucks relatively uncluttered and understated, and the big inverted wing on the top rather spoils the look I think. I may remove it, though if I had the option, I'd like to see what it would look like in the same blue as the bodywork: not possible for now.
