Everything coastal/seaside/beaches/islands (?) animals pack

They live in massive oceans so theyd probably have the large sized habitat like polar bears to be realistic. Probably not as large but still. Their an animal that needs space to swim.
I can't say I've ever heard of any ethical groups raise concern about sea turtles in aquariums. Polar bears join the same amount of ethical awareness as elephants , as elephants in semi realistic group sizes need like 10,000m2 at the minimum. I always ignore the people who complain about animals needing so much space, don't have the space? Don't house said animal
Looking at sea turtles specifically, the amount of space you give grey seals or sea lions is ample room for a sea turtle to live comfortably.

That's not how it works. Yeah the oceans are vast, but most sea turtle species tend to stick to coasts where they can find food. In aquariums with a big enough aquarium they fair really really well.

Pelagic species, like the leatherback sea turtles, don't do well in aquariums. This goes to most pelagic species not only turtles btw.

According to the 2021 EAZA best practice guidelines for sea turtles in captivity, the minimum space requirement for a sea turtle with a shell one metre in length and eighty centimetres across is just shy of 29 square metres of water surface area and the water should be at least two metres deep. They do also say a land area is an absolute requirement to provide a resting area. Space wise, they would definitely work in-game.

That being said, I'm not certain I'd really want sea turtles - for one thing, I think very few if any places actually breed them in captivity (EAZA recommends against it) and most keep unreleasable rescued animals. The other issue is that I have very rarely, if ever, seen sea turtles displayed without being kept alongside smaller marine fish. A tank with just sea turtles in it would seem really odd to me.

I've tended to notice the pattern that pelagic species don't do well while species that are found near coasts, reefs, and shallow seas survive in captivity...

Sea turtles, manatees, small sharks, and even (to an extent) dolphins and small whales

Here's an idea: a Coastal WE. Imagine some shallow elevated tanks with fish and turtles. There'd be surrounded by elevated land/walkable areas for the species that would be against the walls of the WE. There'd be trees for coastal birds to perch on. There'd be species to place in the water, on the land, and in the trees. Kinda like a "layered WE," if that makes sense. Let me know if I need to describe my idea more clearly.

Yeah, but from what I know, I don't think that it's allowed to breed sea turtles in captivity.
Is it even possible? Because sea turtles return to the beaches they were born at, right?

Did a sea turtle tries to lay eggs in captivity, it wouldn't work, right? Because how would the turtle get to the beach it was born at?

Some good luck and one determined turtle
I'll believe that when pigs fly...

What's with all those false rumors about sea turtles? They are definitely allowed to be bred in captivity, but there are protocols regarding the handling of the young.

Also sea turtles can breed on a beach they weren't born in. Otherwise all sea turtles would've still been breeding on the same exact beach.

Coastal/seaside and islands are, IMO, entirely different concepts - so much so that my lists for each have Almost anny overlap and getting one wouldn’t mean the other is any less likely. Consequently, I’ll have to make two lists (both themes would be welcome).

Islands (scenery / animal pack):
- the obvious one that we’ve already seen from plenty of people and my list is not at all original…

Devil
Kiwi
Fossa
Nene
Tuatara (ex)

Coastal (TBH I don’t love this as a theme, but….)
Little penguin
Walrus
Sea otter
A pelican (whatever species)
Coconut crab (ex)

This is my favorite sea turtle, but also the only one I wouldn't want in the game. As a massive pelagic animal with a very specific diet, they don't tend to fare well in captivity.

When I make a list of animals, they are animals that I would like to see in the game. It is a wish list rather than reality. I know that some of them are unlikely to appear, due to different reasons.

Illusion is the last thing to be lost

In regards to sea turtles breeding: I don’t believe I have heard of them breeding in captivity. Sea turtles that I have seen in captivity are so because they can’t return to the wild due to injury or whatever.
Some zoos/aquariums including the place I used to work at, a lot of places do not have breeding permits for birds therefore the eggs have to be replaced with false eggs unless there is a research permit. Somehow I think that is also a case for captive sea turtles.

Now for my pack
Coastline
1. Sea otters
2. Green sea turtle
3. Fur seal or walrus
4. Pelican or Souther rockhopper Penguin
5. Seabirds set of 5. Horned puffin, tufted puffin, Atlantic puffin and rhinoceros auklet (idk 5th)
Theme has a shipwreck or boats.
Sorry I’m drawing blanks on what else I would want as an animal pack that isn’t just pinnipeds, reptiles and birds.

Islands
  1. Tasmanian devil
  2. Nene geese
  3. Foosa
  4. American flamingo
  5. Kiwi
  6. Tanuki
  7. Tree kangaroo
  8. Lorikeets set of 5

my Coastal pack contains:

1. Great White Pelican
2. Sea Otter
3. Walrus
4. Little blue penguin
5. Coconut Crab

but if Islands then it is different:
1. Tasmanian Devil
2. Kiwi
3. Fossa
4. Nene Goose
5. Budgerigar

Only Sea Otter for me, and if we ever get flying birds - Puffin and Steller Sea Eagle.

Right now I'm developing idea of this history themed zoo that would be sectioned after major zoologists and expeditions through history.

Sea Otter and Eagle would make for a fine Steller mini section.

I have at least two ideas both of which would have coastal skirts as a part of the free update.
Idea 1:
New Content: Eastern Islands Pack
1) Tasmanian Devil
2) Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
3) Sumatran Tiger
4) Anoa
5) at least a few types of Fruit Doves (WE)
New Plants include the Robusta coffee tree, False Beech Tree, New Guinea Impatiens which is flexicolor!), Phillipine Violet
Colonial scenery style?

2:
New Content: Coastlines Animal Pack
1) Quokka
2) Channel Islands Fox
3) Chincoteague Pony, imo sounds cool
4) Carribean Flamingo
5) Any Albatross, although almost unheard of in captivity I think they're cool
6) Japanese Serow
7) Muskox, arctic coasts
8) Gulls (WE)
