There are downsides to marketing a game to the demographic who played the original Elite games. Back then, we had all sorts of home computer wars (which one was the best, which one had best games etc.). It seems that we are perfectly willing to continue that tradition by starting to wage war on which game is better than some other game.
It's all down to our personal preferences in the end. They, in turn, are not affected only by reality and logic but also our emotions and so-called "added value" (such as, which game our friends play and want to talk about).
