Exploration cross-platform

Hi there,
I'm going to pre-order Elite Dangerous on PS4 and my biggest goal is exploration.
But , do PC, Xbox One and PS4 share the same universe?
Will the explored parts of the galaxy be visible on PS4?
Because I don't want to fly 1000000 LYs away to discover something! [where is it]

All platforms share one galaxy state - for all things - exploration, trade, Factions, Community Goals, Powerplay, etc..

Yes everything is shared. Also of the 400 billion star systems in the galaxy, the player base have only discovered and scanned 1%. So you won't have to travel 100,000 light years unless you want to. :)

With 400.000.000.000 stars in it, there will always be something to discover. After al those years of the game being online, only about 1% of the stars have been discovered. So, there's enough for you to do. ;)

currently on my way to Sagittarius A about 4,400 ly out and literally have discovered loads, have at least 1 earth type about half a dozen water worlds and far to many others to catalog here so no worries [smile]

Kind've the point in exploration there - you go out & explore, nobody said it would be (nor should it be) easy. You want something with your name on it then you work for it.

All platforms share one galaxy state - for all things - exploration, trade, Factions, Community Goals, Powerplay, etc..

All of the above - you simply don't share the same physical space, PS4, Xbox, PC/Mac all have their own instances.

I recently got first discovered on a system barely 1,000ly out (If I recall correctly) so there's still plenty to find out there!

Same here, a mere 620Ly from sol, found an untagged system with an undiscovered Earthlike world :D

For ps4 guys who have no reference point, 620ly is less than 15min away in a well fitted exploration ship.

Less than 1% of galaxy has been explored, so there is a lot for you to put your name on!

Discovered by tag is shown regardless of what platform was used to discover it, so I will find my systems tagged with "Discovered by C00KY1970" when I play on PS4 and when i Discover a system in PS4 Xbox and PC players will see my PSN tag associated with that system.

To add to what was already posted, you can "see" all the stars in the entire galaxy day one in the GalMap.

However, your starter ship won't have the exploration and trade data for all the systems. It only has the "system" data for some of the "popular" systems in inhabited space. Doesn't matter if someone else has found them or not.

While you can often "buy" the exploration data for a particular system while docked at a station, I recommend traveling to the system and using your discovery scanner instead.

Note: Explorers should upgrade to the 1.5 million credit advanced discovery scanner as soon as possible - you can make a few million quickly by doing local missions like we did in our Two Guys in Space series.

The cool thing is, it doesn't matter if someone has been there before you, you can still use your discovery scanner in any system that is new to you and sell that data to stations at least 20ly away.

This allows you to discover and profit from exploration even if someone else had already "discovered" the system first :)

Apart from all of the Nebula's and pretty much the Direct route to Colonia everything else is pretty much unexplored

On the plus side PS4 users will actually be able to make a living from exploration as it got a big buff last patch.

I had sort of picked up on this but thanks for confirming it.

I am a ED NOOB, are you saying that a 620ly journey in said ship takes 15 actual, real time minutes, to accomplish?
