Exploration cross-platform

What does a player do during a 15 real time minute or longer voyage from here to there? I played NMS, and the longest I was ever in a black hole (fastest way to go somewhere) was 2.5 minutes. In which case I went 3.5 thousand light years. Jesus, at my present age, I may not make it out of the confines of the bubble. LOL

In Elite you will learn to get used to the wait, or go back to NMS ;)

For longer runs some players listen to music, some PC players with 2 screens chuck Netflix on and watch something.

The big risk is that you need to be in control of ship post jump to ensure you don't accelerate right into the star!

After a few hours of gameplay you wont even notice the transition!

i will avoid that place at all cost, used to really hate that place in elite 2 and FFE. if i didn't over shoot it with the time compression nonsense, then i would end up on the oppisite side of the sun and it would take me twice as long to get there. so thanks but no thanks, think i would rather travel to Andromeda in supercruise [knocked out]

You'll be glad to know it's *only* a 90 minute journey nowadays and a trip I've done far too many times to count . . . in fact it is the first destination for any of my new ships (Cmdr Jintosh is proud to be a Hutton Orbital Trucker) :)

You still have to be in control of your ship to avoid nose planting stars when jumping in and lining up for the next jump etc.

Billl, word of advice, don't ever do the trip to Hutton Orbital ;)

Where is it, I've read its near or part of "Alpha Centauri" aka "Proxima Centauri", which is the 2nd closest star to the planet Earth after our own (Sol). It's only 4.2 light years. The Andromeda galaxy is 4.5 million light years from Earth. Where is the bubble in regards to Earth or our star "Sol"?

The bubble centers on Sol approximately, extending about 400ly out from there in all directions. Hutton Orbital is near Proxima Centauri, but when you travel there in game you jump to Alpha Centauri and have to travel the 0.22ly to Proxima Centauri in supercruise, which takes about an hour and a half in real time... :)

This has led many commanders to suggest that Hutton Orbital is the place with answers to many new commanders questions :-D

If that's a 90 minute supercruise there better be a trophies for that :)

You can buy two rare goods from Hutton Orbital; The Hutton Mug and Centauri Mega Gin. Combining the two is not recommended for new commanders, but only for those who have worked their way up so such feats via other drinks such as Lavian Brandy ;-)

As an amature astronomoner (deliberately mispelled) for 58 years and using my extensive up to date star program on my pc. I can't find it.

High Wake Jump is approx 30 seconds, assume each star you refuel for 30 seconds (this may take longer), 20Ly max range, and 30 seconds to manoeuvre away from star and line up to next jump.

620ly is 31 jumps x 1min 30 per jump gives you 46 mins to get there.

That's a long time scooping and jumping... It all depends on what you fit to the ship.

For example, an asp with a 16t fuel tank will jump further and therefore quicker to destination than if you keep the stock 32t tank.
Fit a 6b scoop as well (6a is not really necessary) and you can usually fill up without slowing down on your way round the star whilst lining up the next jump. Hit the fsd when the star starts to shrink on your scanner to minimise the time lost between jumps.
With an engineered fsd and jump range then over 50ly you're all good.

Of course, only do all this if you don't want to pause and take in all the beautiful scenery en route ;)
