Newcomer / Intro Exploration - I'm missing something...

Looking for virgin systems? You might be interested in this - or especially this (scroll down a bit for the Elite: Dangerous Exploration Time Lapse Heatmap (cumulative) - worth it watching in full screen).
Awesome, thanks for the Link(s)! I was wondering whether something like this existed...

So, about this Raxxla thing; is it a thing? Where is it?

It is definitely a thing, and it is definitely in game, that much we know and has been confirmed from the very beginning. What it is, or where it is are complete mysteries and very much open to interpretation.

If you fancy losing yourself in the madness, then wander over here. We're only 765 pages in 😂

So, several kylies from home, scouting around on a newly discovered planet surface, I just found a couple of occupied escape pods?!
How long have they been here?
Who's in them?!
Even though the extra weight hurts my jump range I had to pick the poor b*ggrs up.

but, what to do with a couple of cyrogenic RipVanWinkles?!

There is an engineer out in Colonia who wants them as part of his unlock otherwise sell hand them in for the reward to a Search and Rescue contact.

Otherwise target practice?

Young ones today....

There used to be a time when it was customary to sacrifice them to the Great Old One who is sitting at the center of the galaxy, to ensure smooth seas and following winds.

@Ashnak, I'm right there. They will be launched into the darkness in the hope that I make it back (with all my exploration data) untouched by madness.

I've just travelled from Sag A up a bit and towards Beagle point.

Found a number of neutron stars, white dwarf none of which had a discoverer. Ended up at a system I'd discovered some time ago (before the latest system scanner changes). It has a neutron star, white dwarf, black hole + an earthlike water world....

There's plenty out there to find - just stay off the beaten track..

So; some (very basic) learning which hopefully may help others:

After arriving in a system and 'honking' (using ADS), dont rely on the system map to show you the planets; you need to use the FSS to fully scan the system. A 'honk' will tell you how many bodies there are in a system but, unless you have been to the system before, these wont show up on the system map until they have been scanned with the FSS. I'm still not clear what the earliest point in this process is that you can tell whether it is a virgin system.

When turning in to Universal Cartographics you are paid by the page so dont be disheartened when you only see a couple of million at the top of the page; after a decent exploration run, the credits will flow in for several pages more.

When using the Galactic Map, in the View tab, using 'Map' you can filter all sorts of things than first appears from the drop-down menu. Scroll the list and there's 'star class', 'visited stars' and all sorts of goodness. Trying to then spot some of the rarer things, such as 'tech broker' is another skill...
