Exploration in Odyssey can be awesome - good job, Frontier!

most of my surveying is done in the SRV, I take both Scarab and Scorpion with me, the Icy bodies get the Scorpion, others the Scarab.
I retract my first impressions on the Scorpion. I ditched the collector limpet controller on my dolphin and installed a second vehicle bay with a Scorpion. It's actually fun, although it feels kinda weird to bring a military vehicle on an exploration vessel ;). Anyway, the engine sound is balls, and it really goes like on tracks. The cockpit view is slightly claustrophobic, reminds me a bit of the eagle or the F63. I think I will enjoy it (y) .

Some of the new bases can look pretty awesome too, with or without blue skies...

I looked at that first one and thought the place actually had grass!

@Helmut Grokenberger and you other on-foot explorers, I'd be very interested to learn which graphics cards you are using. I was hestistant buying Odyssey since it doesn't really add much for me, but those vistas may actually make it worth buying it.

Would the quality be the same if logging in through EH 4.0 and deploying a buggy, to check how well my own performs?
i7-4770K 3.50GHz

Geforce GTX 1070 8GB

Standard 'High' setting in the game with a few tweeks to increase draw distance for surface objects. Framerate can dip sometimes but I find it perfectly playable and beautiful to look at.

With it being quite so 'tanky', the Scorpion engine sound is a bit lightweight, I'd expect it to have much more 'grunt', but it is a nice drive when on surfaces where the Scarab is a bit like a demented ballet dancer!

Maybe it would make sense to create a dedicated thread to discuss the shortcomings of Odyssey gameplay rather than to derail something that started more like a diary.
You know, there were a couple of times when Frontier asked for exobiology feedback specifically, the last one I believe was here. The thread's dead now, but if somebody wants to give their feedback more visibility, it might be more worth posting there.

Well anyway, back to exploration, not exobiology. Let me
just
drop
some
locations
here.
There are more good places to find now. Personally, without the new planetary generation, I'm pretty sure I would have been bored with exploration by now. Since I enjoy doing stealth gameplay on settlements too, the better geology and generation also helps there. The surrounding terrain hardly matters for the gameplay, but I like the views and scenery. When there are plants near the settlements, that's even better, although that seems to be fairly rare.

The game could use more content and especially more mechanics though. Without it, I imagine not a lot of players will be exploring in two-three years - well, not a lot of players are exploring nowadays anyway. But hey, even if I won't be, I'd still say that I have gotten more than enough fun from the money I spent on the expansion.

Of course there are similar planets in the Bubble.
Yeah, but then you don't get the thrill of being the first to find it :p

Certainly driver error here! (It normally happens when I have used Drive Assist on to stop quickly, then forgotten to switch it back off again! One day I'll set a control for the handbrake, I guess...)
Wait... Drive assist works on SRV's?
