Exploration - Nice one! :-)

Nobody (well almost nobody) is suggesting that the FSS be removed - it's clearly making a lot of people happy. Rather we'd just like the option to continue to play as we did before. As yet, nobody has given a plausible reason why the 'targetable bodies after scan' functionality cannot coexist with the FSS.

I think they've removed that functionality to enhance the new one. In my opinion it wouldn't make sense to make the two compatible at the same time.

And I would advise you to not assume your advice is warranted nor that your perspective and preferences are more valid than those of others who might not share the same ones as you.

Happy trails, Commander.

You don't have to warn me.

It is not my desire to indoctrinate anyone, and I am well aware that my opinion will be different from other people.

In all my post of this thread I always speak of my point of view and my opinion and reiterate that it is not my desire to convince anyone.

Out of bubble exploration is creatored due to the out of ship minigame, the only people defending it are those addicted to getting all the rewards for nothing, though its complicated (anomaly and signal source detection is well done).

With that out of the way, im really loving in bubble exploration again. Frontier to get past the mainstream cheezed all the bubble systems by removing the need to use the fss, and im going on a dss spree mapping things. Having the time of my life.. the last time i did this was when i was learning / putting to use new knowledge of the bgs.. searching for stacking mission systems.. so much fun.

Also the rewards are perfect. They could have saved a years development all they had to do was set the rewards to current years ago (i swear it was brought up many times during the black balls patch feedback) and they would have taken that little 'placeholder' mechanic into majority acceptance. Frontiers flexibility reminds me of the bank i used to work at.

EDIT: Just in case you're reading this frontier, ive held off on my usual patch thankyou purchases to the amount of $12 at least. Of course that's insignificant but we're done until exploration is made whole again.

Personally I feel ED have done a fantastic job with the new exploration mechanic, in my 4 years of playing and flying thousands of light years doing the honk and having to fly to each planet to get it scanned this mechanic is a breath of fresh air!!!

We don't want to play the minigame that resolves all the details of the system.
We want to fly our spaceships and explore.
As long as the minigame is unavoidable (unless you're really fond of parallax) then ED will remain on the shelf.

But you can just fly your spaceship and explore, it has been suggested to you in responses to multiple posts you have made all saying the same thing, it is just a different no-lose mini-game to the one you were playing previously, except that you can now 'win' and find POI's.

Incidentally, if ED "will remain on the shelf" is accurate then are you talking about a game you are no longer playing?

I assume the "We" is you and a few others who feel the game has changed beyond recognition and should be changed for the minority...

Not being a 'proper' explorer and only wanting to go out and see what the Cosmic Forge has put together for me, I have to confess that the new system has made exploring 'fun' in comparison to the previous time-sink of SC flying to distant parts to complete a 'worthless' system because that's the way I prefer doing things. I've probably visited around 500 systems, and stopped in a few to go look at something that catches my interest, the new way is fast, easy and opens up everything the systems may have been hiding, wonderful! I'm only a little over 30KLY from Sol and still going outwards :)

I just love the new exploration mechanics !

Spent hundred of hours exploring before 3.3 and did a last 30k ly trek right before the update came out.

The new mechanics are so much more fun, engaging and rewarding. I can finally find interesting stuff on planets, collect rare materials around geological or biological sites with my SRV and enjoy the beautifuls sights.

I finally have the feeling that I really am an explorer. The CODEX is awesome and add some sort of challenge to find out everything I can in a region. I'm much more interested in reading every bodies description in the CODEX instead of the boring system map description.

Probing, night vision, orerry map, lagrange clouds, visuals... left Colonia after 3.3 in direction of Sag A (never went there before, was keeping it for 3.3)...10k ly out and I can say that I enjoy it way more than a 10k ly with the old mechanics.

Fdev did an amazing job with this,

Another thing I think would be a good addition is a very rough guide to how much unsubmitted scan data you are currently carrying. It could simply be based on the number of systems where you have scanned something.

Just a text readout saying "Scan Data: 276" or "Scan Data: 1.2K" or whatever, it would just be nice to have some sort of measure, so you could for example decide in advance to head home at a certain point.

Does that sound good, or is it just me? :)

That sounds like a brilliant, and elegant, suggestion - I'd like that too.
