Exploration payouts.

Does anyone else think exploration should pay more? Like for finding ELW, etc. Compared to finding new footfall exobiology payouts. These rare exploration payouts seem like peanuts. Would add more excitement to the find, I think. They could add the lore that, due to colonisation, payouts have increased.

It's already several million which is very good pay for the amount of work involved in scanning the world. First discovery exobio isn't complicated but takes more time and effort. it's not unreasonable for that to pay more for that reason.

No not really the amount of money being made in exploration makes the whole in game credit useless. I went out in 2017 did a 6 month jump to Beagle and made 400 million. I did another 2020's took me less time and I was making 20 mil a night minimum . ELW, Ammonia worlds , WW and any terraformable no matter how long it takes . ( Admittedly 2017 there was no terraformables and you had to be close to each planet to scan it, hence why it took longer, so you needed to know the bear zone for each star ) Nowadays it's honk fss and then sco if it's far away . Now add to that exiobiology , I understand it's not for everyone hence why the payouts are so silly ( to get people to do it ) .
So there has to be a resetting of the credits made but not an increase.

I think the payouts are fine, and make sense. The amount of payout depends on whether you are the first to discover and map the planet, and whether you have DSS-scanned it, and whether you scanned it efficiently.

Here are payouts for an (efficient) DSS scan of some planet types in credits (not first discovery / first discovery):

Ammonia World: 598k / 1725k
Earth-like World: 1126k / 3250k
Water World, not terraformable: 416k / 1200k
Water World, terraformable: 1200k / 3230k
High Metal Content Planet, terraformable: 683k / 1971k
Rocky Body, terraformable: 540k / 1557k

For comparison, consider that for example the Cobra Mk V costs 1989k credits. A first-time scan of an ELW or terraformable WW gives you more than enough reward to buy a brand new top-of-the-line spaceship.

Both my characters have more money than they know what to do with. But they both keep on searching for new life (given up on new civilizations) and new systems just for the fun of it.

I'm not an explorer, but have left grubby little pawprints across the galaxy.

I even made a few shekels in doing so...

Seems reasonable for just casual sightseeing over the last few years.

ETA: Just to clarify - I used to like taking data delivery missions from the bubble to Colonia - which racked up a lot of firsts. Naturally did the required Sag A* & Beagle Point visits as a relative n0ob.

Is turning in your data more valuable the further away you are from the data you're turning in? That question sounds confusing. So if your 500ly from the data you acquired is it worth more if you turn it in at a port that's 1000lys from the data acquired?
