Dear God if this happens I will be a happy man.

Hen Genar I don't know if you are interested in looking into it but it seems with the Window's 10 anniversary update CL will keep the taskbar up over ED all the time. I know there is the hide button just wanted to make you aware.
Doesn't look like there's anything I can do about that. I just spent an hour in Google looking, and it seems it's a Windows 10 problem.
Just use the taskbar checkbox in Captain's Log to disable the taskbar. When you exit CL, the taskbar will be re-enabled.
Now, if someone were to show me a Windows API call to disable this Taskbar Stay On Top, I could incorporate that into CL.

Just to let y'all know I've not been sitting back twiddling my thumbs these last few weeks
I've been busy ripping the still-beating heart out of Captain's Log and replacing it with a new, better, cybernetic upgrade.
I'm hoping it will be ready in time for 2.2 to go live - no promises, but my team of programmers (comprising of me) are hard at work on it.
Thanks once again to CMDR Psieonic for providing icons for Materials which with the help of RMunk are made with a palette kind to the colourblind.
Anyway here's a screenshot -note the layout is not yet finalised, LOTS is still missing from the UI, but it's already beginning to become useful in recording jumps and giving an instant at-a-glance display of available materials once you have DSS-scanned a landable planet.

That looks pretty and functional.
Some questions:
- Is this information entered automatically from the new 2.2 logs?
- Do you have facilities to connect to EDSM or any plans if not?
- Can you use the existing history information from the logs or do you have to start from scratch filling the database?
The information available before 2.2 was extremely limited and required manual input to the point where inputting anything other than the planet/star type and its designation made for boring un-fun times.
I am considering trying to write a routine which would try to convert the old Captain's Log databases into the all-new DB format, but given the above, given that some people might have been using "lazy mode" to auto-assign a designation number which doesn't resemble the real planet or star designation, and given the data which is absent from the old versions of the game and hence Captain's log pre2.0 , then I doubt an import function would be viable, if possible at all.
So assume that as from CL 2.0.0 onwards (and ED 2.2 onwards), we're all starting fresh.
Do note though that CL2.0 onwards will be using an entirely different database folder, such that you will be able to still use CL 1.x as well as CL 2.x
Hope those were comprehensive enough answers!

What I am interested is to have the history of the star systems I've visited pre-2.2. I wasn't using Captain's Log so this information is either in the existing game logs or EDSM. Even without any planetary information, just having the systems as well as the notes I've entered would be awesome. Hope this makes sense?
Is there a way I can change the keybinding for taken a screen shot in Captains Log?
I have no idea if you can change the screenshot hotkey in the game.
Feedback on the version 2 I just read about
You might well have this covered already but it would be useful I think to show if a system is 'green' or only has j1/j2. Just thinking of saving the mental gymnastics required
Could it be possible for v2 to open v1 db's as read only? Appreciate the wealth of info being introduced that makes it impractical for an import etc, but it would be useful to load up the previous DB's without needing to keep a separate install of the old version of the program kicking around.
I'm trying to use CL after being away from the game for a few months, and I keep getting this error when starting up the program:
I'm unable to start the program at all, and uninstalling/reinstalling has no affect.
