Exploring profits

It's very hard to farm ELW's. It's not like they can be located ont he galaxy map on something. Sure you could make it a priority to look for them, but it won't make them any easier to find.

As is, I'm at about 100 ELW's discovered on my current trip, and about 220k LY travelled. In a period of 5 months, that works out to a good night doing Robigo runs.

Z...

I'm at a mere 22 first discovered and 2 that were scanned :(
And I've been through 10,700 systems so far.

Although I must admit I have probably done 4000 of those without looking at the system map because I was either trying to catch up with DW or racing for a fuel rat rescue (2 on trip so far, 2 successful :D).

In case anyone is interested this is my 5 months stats:

I scan any ELW system, any sys with 2+ WW's.
Any system with AW + one other interesting body.
I scan all BH/NS.
So I've skipped a fair few WW's and a small number of AW. (Full disclosure).

COUNT:ScannedFirsts
ELW222
WW059
Ammonia114
Black holes1023
Neutrons1718
Planetary Nebula2514

Systems scanned ~10,700

As you can see I've been nebula hunting :)

This relates to profits of:

EXPECTED PROFIT
Scanned Firsts
120,0001,980,000ELW
02,360,000WW
33,500703,500AW
400,0001,380,000BH
629,000999,000NS
1,182,5007,422,500SUM TOTALS

Estimated profits:
Profit from Planets

25,815,000

Profit from Sys Maps474,030,000

Even cutting sys map profit by a full 50% that's still 10 times the profit from scanning high value systems. In these ELW/AW systems I did scan the minor planets too but they'll only come to a max of 5mil altogether, probably much less.
Yes my numbers may be a bit out but even a 10% error band on both figures and as I say it's a factor of 10 difference if you cherry-pick scan.

These 2 tables is where this entire thread came from by the way :)

Your sys map profit seems way too high. An average of around 10k per system for honking is more like it.

15k per system estimate comes from my 2 previous trips:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=142301
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=156931

T1:
Systems visited: 2206
Profit per system: 15,397 Cr <- I did some scanning but I never scan normal stars and was also cherry picking back then.

T2:
Systems Visited: 3154
First Discoveries: 935
Profit per system: 61,395Cr <- With Li Yong-Rui bonus

Profit per system /3: 20,400Cr <- With a bit of NS farming (maybe 100-200)

You are correct I may be out a bit here but this shows where I got my average of 15k per system from. Worst case it's ~13k making the profit from systems so ~130,000Cr (390,000Cr with bonus)...

Ahhh found it: Those number come from my spreadsheet directly, both sys map and planet scans are *3 because I planned to use the Li Yong-Rui bonus again. Ratio is the same but you are quite correct :D

Original values would be:
Profit from Planets
8,605,000
Profit from Sys Maps
158,010,000

Hm, so I might have been pessimistic with my estimate of 5000 Cr (10 bodies) per system average. Thanks, that's good to know!
That pretty much means then that speedhonking is the second most profitable method of exploration, with neutron star farming being the first.
