F D doesn't favour its own forum?

Lol you sound like an old man parody account. This is coming from a 40-yr old :-D

Oi, I'm not a youngster - and retired. I'm allowed to sound like that :D

On a more serious note, I received a few rather interesting briefings on the true nature and inner workings of "social media" by Military Officials and Specialists.
So it's quite normal that I'm not fond of these. At all.

A classic Quote by the Facebook founder, from the very first/early days of the Facebook invention :

I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Question]: What? How'd you manage that one?
People just submitted it. I don't know why. They "trust me". Dumb {expletive}

That's how it worked in the past. Everything went downhill from there. And it went very far down into the rabbit hole.

Also Hosting it external means the images dont have to be converted to JPG first on PC, so can be a PNG versions direct from the PNG file for PC...
This site has a bandwidth cap for images...
Also means Less LOAD on these servers When the topic tries to load the images in each page...
The external sites have to manage the data hosting...

Gin, Vermouth, Campari; 3 equal parts over ice, with or without a twist of orange skin.
Great summer cocktail. Powerful stuff.

3 Parts Tanqueray No. Ten
1 Part Grey Goose
1/2 part Cocchi Americano

Shake vigorously, garnish with Spanish Queen olive(s).

It's as close to a true Vesper Martini as you'll ever get, as Kina Lillet has not been produced since the '60's, and the last known bottle, a 1967, is now a display in the American Cocktail Museum in New Orleans.

Well that's fine, but I'm here for Elite Dangerous. I want MY game to be a game whose developers and community managers truly enjoy working on it! If they don't, then perhaps something needs to change...

The irony is that the ED generates the majority of forum traffic in the "New Posts" feed, more that all the other games combined. And this is after a large number of once-active members have left (Stigbob, Ziggy Stardust, Vermister, almost all original PS4 players, etc.) and during a long and hard drought of developer involvement. It's just sad IMO... :(

The other games don’t really have communities the same way as elite does. Not considering copies sold and revenue, etc, those have been pushed as single player games and not services.. and maybe the people who play them are less excitable, and more skilled instead. Go find silverret and deladysigner on YouTube, mind blown.

With jwe, there was heaps of excitement leading up to it, and it probably sold well, but frontier did a complete stone cold silence on the game post launch (and it was an elite barebones launch for the fans) and the community just vanished. Never grew. No heat in the ecosystem.

I guess with the Kickstarter elite players are still waiting around to receive promises to be delivered... could be that too.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
There is a reason why we have an all "volunteer" forum moderation team, and not one moderated by Frontier Employees.

This may be why Frontier ignores it's own forum, it run by those not working for Frontier.

Not sure what you are implying, but yes - the mod team is all volunteer. Some of us pull double duty modding Steam or the live streams as needed as well.

Frontier have their own reasons for doing what they do, as Paige said. Having volunteer mods doesn't factor into the frequency of communication or platform selection.

Besides, we're a lovable bunch. Who wouldn't want to spend a lot of time on the forum with us?

Genuinly believed it was more a mascara thinner for over emotional women in their 40's but each to their own. :)
Nah, gin drinks can be quite refreshing and crisp summer drinks indeed, whereas I prefer rums and brandies when it gets a bit cooler out. Just mix to your own taste if you'd prefer it be less strong or bitter.

Pro tip: Rum hot toddies (over whisky) mixed with mint tea and honey will cure what ails you when you get a head cold in the fall. Just saying.

But I digress...

Hey guys!

As we communicate with the community across so many platforms, we tend to run different competitions on each one. For this competition we're running it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as these are far better suited to sharing imagery, and we have competitions planned for the forums which will come up within the next few months! Keep a look out for these.
Well is that right?
We have "Screenies" .... "Planet Showcase" .... and the image heavy threads in the Exploration section.

This Forum has never been better equipped to share imagery, yet you are ignoring it !

Indeed, TJ has been regularly posting images from the Screenies thread into Twitter, because the Forum posts are so good.

Now, if you had said, that you want to increase your public prescence on FB, TW, and Instagram, that would be more understandable, but better for sharing imagery? You really have ignored your own forum this time round.

There’s also the fact that arguably everyone on the forums owns a copy of the game, putting pics on social media would reach people that don’t have the game.

Also most of you people on here are old, Fdev probably figure they have the milked the retiree gamer market to the last drop

The announcement about a competition for screenshots specifically excludes making submissions via their own forum. Instead, we have to utilize (anti-)social media - facialblock, twotteringism and instematicagramme. - really F D?

Because this forum does not belong to FDEV... mistery music intensifies...
