F10/Alt F10 not working for screenshots

Hello all. I've been trying to take screen shots of my game all day. I used print screen earlier today, and can use shift f12 for steam, but I would love to take some hi-res ones (yes, my comptuer can handle it). Problem is, the button for screenshots isn't working. And, I can't find that setting to map it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks o7

ISTR when I first installed nVidia GeForce Experience back in the Triassic, one of the functions was mapped to F10 or Alt-F10 and prevented ED from capturing that keystroke. Redefining the function in GFE resolved this. I have the vaguest recollection of one particular update making this problem reoccur but that could be a memory trick. Certainly if you have GFE installed I'd check to make sure it hasn't grabbed F10 for itself.

Open Play prevents Alt-F10 from working due to the network lag it can cause, but F10 on its own should work in any mode.

I remapped the buttons from GFE, but that didn't help. I'm playing in open at the moment, but was playing in Solo earlier. Didn't work then either.

Also, once I get this working, where are they stored? I've checked the C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Pictures\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous path, but its empty.

Hmm, that's where mine appear and I am sure I haven't changed default settings, I do use EDDiscovery to create low res .jpg's for quick reference but you can set the path for that in the program itself.

Do you have anything else running that would take precedent of reading the keys? I think GeForce by default is using F10/Alt-F10 for video or something.

Never tried the remapping, so can't say if that works or not, but Open won't do the Alt-F10, that's for sure.

I did Alt-F10 just earlier today or yesterday in PG, so I know it should work.

I'm an idiot. I wasn't sure what you meant with GFE, that's GeExpress. *duh*

I remapped GFE as well, and play in PG/Solo and have no problems. Maybe yet another program is mapped to the keys?

Or... There's one more thing. Do you have to use the FN button to activate the F-keys?

I'll second that, I had the same issue with the GFE. If not the GFE, then check for other programs which might be interfering.

Same issue.
Been taking screenies for years in the game, F10 or ALT F10. Worked no problem.
Since the latest patch, nothing.
When I press ALT F10 I still get the second or so of screen jitter I always got when taking the highres shot, but no file is saved.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why FDev won’t let us map the screenshot button to something else? I want it on my HOTAS so I can ditch the keyboard entirely while playing in VR.

Those who had this issue with GFE, did you uninstall it? I've changed the keybindings, but nothing still works. And like Rocket had said, I used those keys before a while back, and they worked fine, and i believe that GFE was installed too.

I am having the same issue, this is a clean install on a new PC, and it has not taken screen shots, ALT F10 does jitter and %to 100 then nothing... nada... no pic no where.. :(

Has anyone worked out what is up?

So... I had the problem too last week until I discovered having any overlay thirdparty tool over the game was the reason. I use ED Discovery for instance, and when I had a window of it on top or the compass overlay, the Alt-F10 showed percentage count, but no picture was saved. When I turned off the overlay and had nothing on top of the game window, it started working again.

Test by stopping all other programs running, and if it works, then you know it's some kind of interference of what's to be considered the "main screen" for the photo routine.

Thanks for that Han.

I have uninstalled Overwolf. turned off EDMC, EDDI and close XBOX Game Bar and NVGE has also been uninstalled. I have closed all the third party tools I have. No Joy.

Rebooted the PC in hope of salvation... NO JOY.......

Im wondering if my logitech keyboard G19 is causing issues with it's software... but even when closed... it still No Joy.

I will keep trying things and will report back if I win

I don't run any overlays, I occasionally run Market Connector, that's it.
No overwolf, nothing running from Nvidia (well drivers!)

I only ALT-F10 in solo, otherwise just F10.
Last time I actually got a saved file was 1st March.

I haven't changed anything, only the game getting patched.

I used overlays galore on my old pc, I had so many things running and never an issue. This new PC is great one many fronts... except this is a bit of a pita...

XBox Bar.. grrr... Nvidia Overlays... grrrr so many I can't see which ones are there... and running EVEN when the ap's closed!! GRRRRRRRR

Anyone solved this yet?
New computer, uninstalled the Nvidia Expeience, disabled windows game bar etc and nothing running in the background (that I am aware of) except edmc. Both old and new machines running latest win10 versions and Nvidia drivers and ED Bindings and like many above there is no reaction to F10, Alt+F10 screed flickers but no files saved. Has to be a common link somewhere, surely.
