Just got the delan clip and ps3 cam had a quick try before i found this thread but no joy.
Will have a good read today and see if i can get it working.
Just want to thank you for this. I'm using your initial guide on the first page to get things set up, and have been working on tweaking things to get better responsiveness. For those who wear glasses, I'd suggest taking them off in the initial stage when it's finding your pattern and then put them back on afterwards.
I set the camera to 120 in the Eye Test, but FaceTrack says it's tracking at 56FPS on the camera. Is that normal?
Any other hints and tips for improving performance?
Does that requiring cracking open the camera to take out the IR filter?
Not if you buy the package he sells that includes the camera - he does all the modifications required. I was up and running within 10 minutes. Brilliant bit of kit, the advantage over EDTracker is the 6 points of movement, although it's double the cost at £36 for the camera and headgear. Not bad though!
Hey guys, I was wondering if a PS Eye is of any advantage over a Logitech C525 (that has some basic face traciking features) using Facetrack NOIR ? Is it better at face traciking on the hardware side compared to your standard webcam ?
Thanks !
.
Oh, and there's no need to crack open the PS3 when using the delan clip, you can use a bit of old (camera) film as a lens filter.
Interesting. Explain. Are you talking about the whole IR filter thing?
Yeah, when I first got the PS3 I saw all sorts of vids about cracking it open and removing the filter and I though "sod that"I'd do it if I had to but then I saw another way.
The suggestion was to cut up a floppy disk and use that on the outside but I wasn't that impressed so I searched around for some old photographs and found their negatives - then just cut one/two bits to size and sellotape over the end. The bit that actually worked the best was the really dark bit at the end that wasn't really a photo.
Take a look here :

I used this through the beta/gamma and it works well enough.
I also got hold of an ED tracker (9150) to compare the two. I must admit that I prefer the ED tracker to the delan clip/PS3 cam setup.
I'm interested in getting an IR setup for my PS3 cam (face track is okay, but only okay), but want to find the cheapest and easiest arrangement. I could put something together, but only if it was easy. I'm not an electrician. But if it's cheap enough I'd love something pre-made. Any suggestions?
Hello, I recently installed my new PS3 eye and Facetracknoir. I followed a tutorial to set it up. Everything is working fine BUT I can't figure out how to set my cam at 120 FPS.
According to the guide I have to open CL-Eye Test and set video capture to 320x240 @120 FPS (125FPS), then close the window and open Facetracknoir.
But when I do that it seems that the previous settings just reset to the cam default settings. So all I can do is to use the PS3 eye at 60FPS.
Any suggestions? Is there anybody who was able to make it work at 120fps?
Thank you
