Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Ok, so, I'm not giving any doom talk, because I, like all o' y'all, have no idea what the future holds. But, let's say PlanZo ends within the year, whether in December or in Summer 2024.
Do y'all think we'll get something like the ThemeMaker Toolkit? Or even better, an AnimalMaker Toolkit?
Animalmaker would be so cool, my vision of an empire of monkeys will finally come true.

One last thing about GamesCom before moving onto a new topic: Rudi just shared a PlanCo video on his Twitter and said he'd be back tomorrow "with something else." This definitely makes me think it's a PlanCo 2 announcement...

EDIT: Nevermind. He said it was City Skylines related. LOL. Like I said... It's all about the clicks!

I see no reason why we wouldn't. They did it for PlanCo. And PZ could benefit just as much! I think a TMTK is a given and could see them making a similar tool for animals though I'm less sold on that given the complexity and limitations. that would be imposed.

Maybe many of these content creators feel that if no announcements are made soon for a new frontier game or significant expansion, they may be packing it up and moving to cities skylines 2 considering they focus on the general creative sandbox game market.
So proper autumn speculation: will PZ get a flying bird first or will City Skylines 2 beat PZ to it? (Assuming you can build a zoo like in the first game)

Hmm I'm not sure if cs2 will have a zoo or animal in the base game, paradox and frontier are alike in the sense to sell community favourite additions via dlc. It would be hilarious though if a city builder gets birds first.

I already eat my words, really!?

Another advantage with CS2 is that players can build a convincing CITY zoo. If the sequel has massively improved mechanics, graphics, and animations from the original (perhaps taking inspiration from PZ), it might seriously attract some PZ players.

Imo, to compete with CS2 and head off this challenge, PZ needs to give players an urban map immediately.

So biomes will come not just with rugged and flat options, but also an urban option. Otherwise, I foresee a lot of PZ players eventually playing CS2 (if only temporarily) just to scratch their "build a city zoo" itch.

Honestly if Planet Zoo ends this year I would be “fine” with it. I think I will finally get into the modding sphere and get some of the animals I have been wanting to use. I have made my stance on feathered friends very clear, but if Frontier only adds one or two more it is what it is. I would love it if the winter DLC is bird themed, to sort of finish off the development cycle with something the community and I have been asking for. But at this point I’ll just be happy with anything, and like I said if development ends I’ll start using mods to fill in the blanks.

Even if support wraps up, the walkthrough exhibit holds potential for birds in the modding scene regardless if we get them officially or not. I'm still on the skeptical train about the whole end of times and thinking support will last as long as the previous dlc fills frontiers expectations. Dlc is still selling well and the playerbase has held steady throughout the last year.

I think if I were a dev, it would probably be more cost effective to keep releasing DLCs for $10 than trying to make a whole new zoo game for $50, which would alienate fans. Currently, there is no competition, and the graphics are fine. Once some of the other zoo games in early development start coming out, then a refresh might be good. I might be planning some of what I'd put in a sequel, but I would want to release something like planet coaster 2 first to get some pathing systems, a more balanced economy, and better optimization perfected before bothering with a sequel. I could easily picture another 3 years of profitable content from Planet Zoo. There is no rush to put together a sequel.
