Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

For those who picked Africa as the most complete, I'm curious if it was based off the number of animals or if it was a matter of it having the most complete number of iconic and well known representatives in game. Not trying to start an argument, I'm genuinely curious. It's totally okay for some to consider Africa the most complete. I just see African animal discussion pop up a lot and wonder people's thoughts on that.

Mind you...I'm the guy who, after the Arid pack, basically said do we "really need" any more African mammals. I've changed my thinking since then but it's not like I never thought Africa was set.
I'm thinking of it in terms of "iconic" and "essential" species as a whole to represent the continent. What I didn't consider so much was thing I want that are relatively niche (e.g., black-footed ferret) what I really want and things that we don't currently have in game (i.e., birds and full aquatics). There's plenty of animals I'd want from Africa (e.g., serval, civets, various monkeys, honey badger, aardwolf, leopard and so on) but most aren't critical for a zoo game.

An argument could definitely be made for North America too, I guess. But I can think of a handful of species that would be good to rep the region based on what we have in zoos here. So... I went with Africa.

The serval and any number of African monkeys are absolutely critical for a zoo game. The serval is one of the most common captive species of cat in the world, and I don't think I need to say anything about monkeys.
The serval I agree on but the monkeys, yes they’re needed but we’re not gonna get a lot of monkeys with 2,4, or even 6 packs left, and I think for the 1-2 we do get, they should be from South America.

The conversation is about what continents feel the most complete (not complete--but relative to other regions). I'm not saying I don't want those species in-game, nor do I think they aren't important. Servals are really great animals, common in captivity and such but we already have 4+ felines from Africa. And a number of primates from Africa. Thus, it's "more complete" compared to other regions in my opinon.

But relative to what could be pulled in from other continents? Those animals would be less iconic and less essential to represent that continent compared to the others -- simply because of the representation of similar animals already in-game from that continent.

After so many attempts I think I've got the most realistic and enjoyable temperate pack at least for me, 2 Oceania representatives, 1 North America representative, and 2 European representatives, one of which is a turtle which I've seen a lot of demand for if its a regular exhibit animal.

Tassie Devil (heavily requested), Black Bear (last must have for NA officially completing the continent), Kiwi (bird of the year and a popular one at that), and the boar which some consider essential and others consider a wildcard (mainly referring to the general audience).

I think I might be coming around on the boar. It's not my ideal pick by a longshot but... I'd certainly prefer it to another deer. And because of this thread I'll be happy for everyone here if we wind up getting one, I guess. Haha. For me, I'd swap it out with the porcupine or river otter. But "I'd be happy for others" is a far-cry from where I was at a month ago.

If we wind up with a black bear, the reaction of the playerbase will be interesting. I'd be into it!

Honestly the Best roster for everyone
Not to mention this selection is also one of the most doable. The bear and the boar are both reskins (although the bear will need a bit more work with the colours), devil and kiwi need a bit more work with the devil needing a new rig and animations and the kiwi probably needing a couple new animations and tweaking. Although as we saw with the tropical pack we got 3 animals one with brand new rig/animations and 2 with at least one new animation. I think this roster is certainly doable. Pair it up with a 150+ realistic log cabin/wooden piece set and I think this could be a pretty solid pack.

Personally while I do consider NA near complete I don’t think the black bear alone would finish it. Personally these are the animals that would make the region feel more complete along with the black bear:

Rocky Mountain Goat
Wild Turkey
Canada Goose
Collared Peccary
North American Porcupine (despite the fact that I am not crazy about this one I do acknowledge that it is getting more popular in zoos)

Gray fox, Groundhog, and Bighorn would be nice too (I’d be more than happy to have the latter two) but I don’t feel like they are as or more important than the ones I listed. It would still be nice to have them.

For Europe the only animal I feel is essential is the boar and wolverine. I understand the significance of the wisent but I am not too crazy about it.

While the discussion for primates mainly focuses of SA and Africa I do belie more Asian monkeys would be nice but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

At this point I'll be astonished if we get even 1 monkey by the time support ends. 14 packs in. 1 monkey. God thats sad to say.
I want to see:

-Bird Paradise Expansion Pack (30 birds, both habitat and WE)
-Nocturnal Mammal Pack DLC (8 small nocturnal mammals, particularly primates)
-Monkey Pack DLC (8 monkeys)
-Invertebrate Pack DLC (12 insect/invertebrates exhibits)
-Reptile Pack DLC (12 reptile exhibits)

This will round out the game nicely and allow the building of a more realistic zoo, I'm willing to forego all other big megafauna in exchange for this.

I too think that the devil+boar+bbear+wildcard is probably the best option to please the most people. Devil is wanted by basicly everyone aswell as a OCE species, and the boar and bbear are what is apperently the most needed for EU and NA.
I also think that this constelation is probably the most likely one. What the 4. animal is gonna be is less obvious to me. It makes sense to also include an asian species to cover the last major temperate region, so i guess muntjac could be a nice option. But i wouldnt be surprised about kiwi, or a second animal for na or eu either

As primatologist I genuinely think we need like 10 primates to get a decent roster representation. So many packs should've had a primate and didn't (arid, africa, grasslands) or included a rather strange species (SEA) and now the roster is severely lacking. What we basically have in game at this point is all the odd and unusual monkeys (proboscis, mandrills etc.), and none of the common filler monkeys.

My top 12 based on Common zoo species, global distribution and uniqueness.

1. Mantled Guereza
2. Black-Capped Squirrel Monkey
3. White-Faced Saki
4. Sulawesi Black Crested Macaque
5. Lion-Tailed Macaque
6. Aye-Aye
7. Black and Gold Howler
8. White-Naped Mangabey
9. De Brazza Monkey
10. Barbary Macaque
11. Gelada
12. Hamadryas Baboon

With marmosets and tamarin in a mixd walkthrough, ideally these 5 Common species:
1. Common Marmoset
2. Cotton-Top Tamarin
3. Golden Lion Tamarin
4. Goeldi's Marmoset
5. Emperor Tamarin

Black Bear (last must have for NA officially completing the continent),
I'm willing to bet the moment we get the ABB the americans on the forum are going to move the goalposts again and declare the coyote or whatever "the only animal left to complete north america".

Edit: for clarification this happenns with almost every region on the forums, not just the US
