Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

The Takin is my favorite animal of all time and therefore the animal I want in the game most. However I feel like the Markhor will be what Frontier goes for which means if we get a Highlands pack that isn't an animal pack we might never get a Takin.
My train of thought was similar, but you never know. Also I wouldn't count out some oddball DLC ideas later that could still have Takin

The more I think on it, the more likely children's zoo seems. The next pack is almist certainly a scenery pack and educational objects + bright colors and potentially playground equipment would give both builders and more casual plauers something nee and exciting to play with. For animals we could get dwarf goats, some kind of small primate, coati, and a goose or duck of some sort, all of which would be well received. The update could build on the spitting mechanic with a new animal-guest interaction it would be a very solid little pack.
Not to mention the fall is associated with school starting again! Here is what I would do for a children’s zoo pack:
  1. Dwarf Goat
  2. Squirrel Monkey
  3. Patagonian Mara
  4. Ducks (Multiple species but they use the same rig)
  5. Exhibit animal: a chameleon probably / Possible wallk through animal (depends on Frontier :/ ) Budgies!

I don’t think I want anymore build dlcs as there’s so many animals that haven’t gotten into the game yet. I am on the hopes that support lasts a long time. I was looking at cities skylines and I realized, support is coming to an end after 8 years. Who knows maybe we will have a long while with PZ. But I really think next dlc needs to give us some new feature.

Regardless, I think there are types of animals that deserve attention with the next dlc. I feel at the moment SEA and Africa have gotten enough attention this year while other areas have gotten none.
A highlands dlc could give NA, SA, EU and northern Asia/Middle East some much needed attention.
It’s been a while since we got a bear so I believe spectacled or ABB could be in the cards.

I could imagine animal packs only at the final stage of the game. I think this saves both, human and financial ressources. Let us see what happens, but I must say still getting scenery packs is a good sign for me that Planet Zoo perhaps could celebrate its 5th birthday next year.

Im definetely in favor of continueing getting scenery packs. For me as a builder new animals arent that interesting if im gonna use the same old pieces for the enclosure again, especially if the new animals are "just" new flavors of already existing similar animals and dont really offer anything really new.
I feel like the 50/50 split between Animal and scenery packs were getting these days is a good thing, it offers something for both the animal enjoyers and the builders

Here's a Mountains/Highlands/Alpine scenery pack that seems most probable to me:

1. Markhor - Face or the pack, dare I say flagship animal, presence in both Zoo Tycoons, very iconic look

2. Wolverine - Top 3 in both meta-wishlists, rose in demand after NA and EU pack, this would be the 2nd fan favorite spot of the pack

3. - Rock Hyrax/Alpine Marmot - I tried to limit myself to only two fan favorites, while still going for something that the major crowd would appreciate. I feel like both animal "inhabit" that niche of a cute, mountain dwelling plush toy

4. Rocky Mountain Elk - This is that "but why" oddball inclusion, around 40th place in Meta-wishlist, popular on Nexus, it wouldn't be a PZ DLC without species to moan over

5. Pancake Tortoise (E) - Always struggle with picks for mountain exhibit, this can be a very nice but easy pick, I don't think many would be against an exhibit tortoise

I tried to go for a realistic route, that means not overcrowding the list with fan/community favorites: Spectacled Bears, Takins, Geladas, Pallas Cats...I went for the most popular mountain animal on wishlists (Wolverine) and then for the most marketable of favorites (Markhor), but that one is highly subjective.

Even tho we definitely had packs to bring all four highly wanted species (Africa, Conservation, Europe in a sense), that seems to be the more optimistic rout, so I tried to manage expectations.

Also as almost every pack seems to have that one unpopular pick (Dama, Water Monitor, Wildebeest, Lechwe, Skunk...) I tried to go for something that could still make it into pack realistically while also being something so out of left field.
I can absolutely see such a pack coming, this seems to be the exact way Frontier thinks. I would really dislike it (specially because monkeys and birds would be ignored again) but I can already see that I need to lower my expectations.

I was trying to go for that, despite that I love me some Baboons and Takins and Bears, even tho we would disagree on wether we like it or not 😉

P.S. But also I can see Gelada and say Takin taking Markhor and Wolverine place, with Gelada being on covers

And again Frontier will forget to include any primate, in this case the Gelada BABOON, omg I wanna die :ROFLMAO:

Ah, my nemesis...One Man's Dream Is Another Man's Nightmare.

I agree that they are somewhat likely though.
They feel very likely.

That is my biggest fear of a mountain pack. It could so easily end up being put together like the arid pack.
Of course, there should be some ungulates under this theme, but don't let it be yet another animal pack dominated by hoofstock and carnivorans. I got trust issues with Frontier.

Do you all think its possible we may get an animal pack?

I think there's a chance, but I'm think Frontier will stick to the current pattern. I'm thinking we'll get a Temperate/Woodlands scenery pack in the fall and a Highlands/Mountain animal pack in December. I'm mean ideally, I would prefer only animal packs from now on, and one devoted entirely to South America, but that seems very unlikely in my opinion. (I need black howlers, Frontier!)

Also, I know there's a large group of players who prefer the scenery packs, they are just not as active on the forums as much. I think most of us on here are probably animal nerds before gamers 🤣
