Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Nobody wants the game to end, but let's be real here, it's going to happen some day, and signs are pointing to "some day soon". If (big if IMO) we get another year of support for 2024 (FY2025) then I'd hands-down expect that to be the last.
I get your point, its inevitable one day the support will end, so lets enjoy the game rn. But Im surprised a zoo game got a lot of support over the years. Zoo Tycoon 1 only got 2 years and Zoo Tycoon 2, 3 years.

Highly requested species are being released far more frequently than ever before.
Are they? Where? The Arid Animal Pack only added one that was highly requested, two that were mid if controversial picks, and a majority unrequested animals. Before that, the Tropical Pack gave us again three highly requested animal (sloth, RRH, fossa), and even then one was the wrong subspecies. The other two picks, again, were requested to some degree but still controversial in their inclusion.
Again, the Twilight Pack gave us NO highly requested animals, and actively AVOIDED inclusions of animals that the community requested that would have fit the theme very well (Tassie, Old World Porcupine etc).
In fact, the only pack since last summer that has brought us more than two highly requested animals is the Grasslands Animal Pack. And even then it subbed out some popular choices like the Porcupine, Hamadryas Baboon, Secretary Bird and more for some mid to low level picks.
I’d argue that since last summer, we’ve been getting LESS highly requested species than ever, and they’ve been trickling them out much slower than ever. So this particular argument holds no weight.

The Tasmanian Devil only fits this theme at a stretch, since I’d expect this pack to focus on temperate woodland, and less on the dry sclerophyll forests that the Tassie lives in, but it’s so highly requested at this point that it’s inclusion seems likely.
Much of Tasmania has a climate comparable to the UK, and those dry sclerophyll forests are still considered a form of temperate woodland (not to mention that devils also live in virtually every other environment in Tasmania). They are definitely a temperate woodland animal.

I feel like the next two packs will be woodlands and highlands, with one of them being scenery and the other an animal pack.

Woodlands:
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • American Black Bear
  • Wild Boar
  • South American Coati
If animal pack:
  • North Island Brown Kiwi
  • Black Howler Monkey
  • Indian Gaur

Highlands:
  • Spectacled Bear
  • Sichuan Takin
  • Gelada
  • Guanaco
If animal pack:
  • Pallas Cat
  • Markhor
  • Yak

yaa I agree.

Is the sales figure great if we compare with other simulation games?
Appears to hold its own. Looking up some other games on the link oca2074 provided....

The Sims 3 1.4m sold revenue $17.9m
Jurassic World Evolution 1.5m sold revenue $50.6m
Two Point Hospital 974k sold revenue $22m
Tropico 6 850k sold revenue $29.2m
Planet Coaster 2.7m sold revenue 82.1m (considering PC is 3 years older than PZ)

True, some games - Cities Skylines and Stardew Valley were 2 I looked up - knock PZ out of the park, but in fairness they released 4 and 3 years earlier than Plan Zoo, respectively.

I mean, we have been recieving high-ranking META-wishlist animals ever since Africa, I do not see how could that possibly mean the end is near? If anything, Twiligh and Arid did not recieve much in this regard.

Africa - Meerkat, White Rhino, fox species, hot-climate penguin
NA - Moose, Cougar, Alligator, Beaver, Sea Lion
EU - Lynx, Alpine Ibex, deer species
Wetlands - Capybara, ASCO, Platypus
Conservation - Amur Leopard, Przewalski Horse, a gibbon species
Twillight - Common Wombat, Bats
Grasslands - Maned Wolf, Emu, Wallaby species, Caracal, Armadillo species
Tropical - RR Hog, Fossa, Lar Gibbon, Sloth
Arid - AC Porcupine, Dromedary

Of course, the rest of the animals will always be wanted by someone, but I do not see this trend of recieving high-wanted animals just now. We have always been recieving them.

Yep, I See no real increase in bringing high Ranking animals to the game than years before. As you have written already Africa Pack brought 3 really high requested animal to us and you can go further to the SEA animal Pack. Malaysian Tapir, Babirusa, Clouded Leopard and Binturong were all 4 animals with a high Ranking.
BTW: At Twilight Pack the Red Fox was the second Most wanted animal after the Wombat and If you count now the Dromedary as highly requested the Red Fox surely was, too. Raccoon was somewhere in the midfield of the Ranking.

Bat, armadillo, sloth.

Caracal and Striped hyena were also popular.
Caracal, yes. Striped Hyena was somewhere in the midfield around place 50. I would Not say very requested.
Bat and Sloth and also Butterflies were requested for Sure and the Armadillo If you count together all species would have Had a high Ranking, too. Thats right. But I do not see an increase in bringing high requested animals. It is Just the same as two years ago.
