Here's a good analysis:

Latest:

And previous, with some more leaks and info:

I hope it is balanced so a day one player can compete with a maxed out vet like in Planetside 1. All you needed was rexo and HA and you could farm like a beast. Didn't cost many certs. You put 3 -5 medpacks in your inventory along with 3 boxes of ammo and a few nades (EMP for pros) and you could stand toe to toe with Johnny Nolife all day.

I'm hoping they will copy the DayZ model but design the mechanics in such a way as to promote cooperation.

LOL, typical leaks. "Fallout76 is NOT a Rust clone" "Fallout 76 will be a survival RPG like Rust"

Jeez I hope it's nothing like DayZ. Gankers in ED are Buddhist monks compared to the kind of sociopaths I've seen in that game. I don't think you can do anything with game mechanics to fix that and it still be a reasonably realistic depiction of what a zombie apocalypse would really be like.

Yeah, it's all based on leaks. But did you actually watch both videos before dismissing them?

I've been following Starfield, so I think I'm up to date with the current rumor mill. 99.99% of what's out there is wishful thinking and trolling since Bethsoft hasn't confirmed anything other than Rage 2, so it's not surprising that the two videos you linked contradict each other.

Yeah, you didn't watch them lol

Rumours abound that it’s “some kind of online game” which could be an issue for me ... no objection to online play / shared worlds but it will depend a lot on implementation, gameplay, PvE vs PvP balance, etc.

Online, like... mmo/multiplayer?
If so then I'm out.
Don't want other players hopping around in my game.

I love fallout and I'm playing FOvr (and skyrim vr) but I'm not interested in a FO MP game. Multiplayer game means no mods so I'm out.

Yep. Bethsoft's main draw is modability. Without that they're just average RPGs with reasonably good story telling and abysmally bad QA. That's why I'm excited to find out about Starfield, if it's about a good a space sim as Elite but has the modability of an elder scrolls or fallout game, I will be spending thousands of hours in it.

Zero interest here for several reasons:

1: They are being deliberately vague about what it is
2: The release is too close to Fallout 4 for it to have any meaningful additions
3: Bethesda and their paid mods

I’d wager it’s a test bed for a theory such as a “game as a service”. Monthly subscriptions and £40 up front.

You could be right, because like Skyrim and Fallout 4 obviously didn't make Bethesda enough money.......will it have loot crates i wonder?

I'm in wait-and-see mode.

I love Bethesda, but I'm not getting over hyped just yet.

The devs tried to ease the minds of those hyper-moaners who "already know it will be horrible" from those three leaks that came out.
I am carefully optimistic, myself.
They say it's just as much RPG and just as much story-focused as the previous games. So that's good. I only hope the online element won't be too annoying.
Then again, I even play SWTOR as a singleplayer RPG and it works, so... :D

But yeah. I'm a huge Bethesda fan, too. TES and Fallout games are the only ones who come close to Elite when comes to the hours spent there (even though it's combined. :D)
It would really suck noodles if this game was a flop, but hey, I'm probably gonna play it nonetheless.

Paid mods + multiplayer = no other mods = no giant butts.

Count me out.

Lol.

I do really enjoy modding Bethesda games and will be most disappointed if this one is not moddable to the same level. (And really - it won't be if it's multiplayer). So, that's one of the big reasons why I'm not getting hyped yet. I applaud Bethesda trying new things, but this time out they're possibly tossing out two of the pillars of their entire studio (player modding and big, *single player* open world RPG). A Rust-inspired online survival RPG sounds interesting, but it's a significant departure from what I love them for.

So here's a fun little story. Recently, I picked Fallout 4 out again, as I've only completed the main quest once, and then dropped it: thought I'd give it a second try, since I saw some pretty good mods out there. However, the game would crash to desktop immediately once the main menu came up. No error message, nothing. So I thought it odd that it would CTD after the engine is up and running, and started looking at things. As it turns out, there's an error that has been known to Bethesda for six months(!) where players from various ISPs over Europe can't connect to Bethesda's site for some reason, and games which use their Creation Club crash because of this. That would include Skyrim as well, and possibly others? I'm not sure, but I do know that to be able to play the game, I had to completely disable all its communications in my firewall. Lo and behold, the game works fine now.

Now Bethesda announces a new Fallout game, possibly online only, and with the CC perhaps becoming mandatory? Yeahhh no.
