FAO FRONTIER: List of Graphical Changes / Issues for since Patch 1.3

Quick and easy way to solve performance issues. If you can't or won't optimize the game to improve performance reducing the graphics has the same result.

what really annoys me is the bubble for filter range. I sent them a ticket and they replied that in some ares plotting route was working slow so they nerfed it completly for all. apparently in some areas range while filter on has greater range. they simply could only add this feature in options and leave it to players discretion - no. let's mess it for all.

This is what worries me, and I have a feeling that this is what is going on in nearly all areas. The only graphical issue we know that is possibly a "bug" is the dust removal in the rings. All the rest we don't know. Maybe it is a temporary "fix" until they have the time to put options into the graphics menu to switch it on or off, or else find a way to truly optimize the game.

Asteroid belts in 1.3 aren't nearly as impressive as they were back in beta & gamma.

I rarely see this kind of density anymore...

^^

That's the Wunjo 1 Furnace from beta, whatever happened to it? It was one of the most impressive sites in the early game at one point - especially in the Oculus Rift.

Thanks for this. I haven't seen anything like this in the game since release. All non-beta / gamma players really missed out on a lot of special stuff. Here's a screen cap from the video Erimus linked for those that can't play the YouTube video from their location:

This is what we are really missing now.

Well just seems to me the cries of 'stutter...stutter..stutter fix it or I quit' won out. Community leadership at its finest!

At least we have a smoother running game now!

Sad to see the graphics get worst - hopefully its just those few bugs and not = a general graphics downgrades, can Frontier please make an official reply on this?

I don't think they are dumbing down the graphics because of the stutter, it's a loading issue. hence the shader cache introduction, but it is not working so far. And as for the game as a whole stutters = #1 problem with the game at it's core. You guys all know why they are dumbing down the graphics!

I support this thread entirely, there needs to be some form of response to this other than "if you think there is a bug, please post a bug report" answers we seem to get.

It sickens me when developers can't take the few minutes to either say "sorry, it's broken, we will fix it" or even at the very least admit that there's something wrong to begin with. There clearly is something wrong with it and it's been that way for a worrying amount of time now.

Graphics has beend steadly downgraded since the alpha version. Alpha testers have noticed this a long time ago and aren't surprised if more reduction is taking place.

There is a massive difference between those two shots. Ben Parry a former Frontier employee confirmed that lighting in cockpits was indeed changed here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=162101&page=6&p=2475533&viewfull=1#post2475533 although he didn't talk about the obvious reduction in texture quality.

The mesh seems to have taken a beating too, or at least it displays its low poly nature way more in the second shot. Look at the circular vents, left and right.

Wow that's a lot worse than I thought. I think it's fair to say that since we all paid full price for an incomplete game (backers paid more, I personally donated ~200 Canadian in paints) we deserve a full time forum representative. Being kept in the dark is growing steadily more frustrating considering they couldn't even drop 1.3 properly. I just can't take them seriously lately.

There was a time when the forums were full of FD representatives. Devs regularly engaged players in some great feedback and talked a little about what was being worked on. The banter back and forth was great.

That time was during the fundraising campaign. Funny that.

This thread does bring some legitimate concern, I do hope it was just a few optimizations that had turned the graphics down too far. But the thing with the galaxy map? i think it loads less stars so you can actually have frames per second near the core. i went from 5 to 57 in the latest update.

Yeah... FDev needs a forum ambassador pretty quick.
...
As a business man myself I know I would never get away with the lack of communication trickling out of FDev towers. You have an open forum, an ear to the ground of your player base. Use it.
...
All we ask for is some words.

Perhaps you guys should post your feedback to the new Head of Community Management here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=160042
