Far Cry 6 Next Feb.

I always liken it to folks who got all fixated with the combat system in the Witcher 3...I was sitting there thinking "What combat system?"...I was so engrossed in the story and the game world I hadn't noticed.

It's a bit like the same folks who seem overly critical or expectant of the shown gunplay in CP 2077... why does it matter so much? It's not like CP 2077...or the Witcher... were designed as FPS shooters in the first place.

You know, I have a friend who is a game developer. The sad thing about his existence is that he knows how the games are made and therefore when he looks at a game, he only sees the code, the engine and the mechanics. And he can't play and enjoy games because of this.

He just sounds burned out, which is way more of an occupational hazard of a poorly paid industry that runs on crunch than an inherent fact about people not being able to enjoy the artforms they work on.

You can either admire a painting, or study the quality of the canvas and every stroke of the brush.

Nah. Both are admiring the painting. There's no dividing line. The second option just involves a better vocabulary to talk about it. Don't even try to tell me that fanboying out over, say, a Wally Wood piece and gushing over the feathering or the beautiful use of shadow with another cartoonist isn't the same thing as just "admiring it." Or is any less pleasurable.

Being a game designer is great. You can create blue sky design and let the dev worry about the implementation
Remember at the end of the day its a business. Look at the university dev game for pur gaming or india. The early 8bit had lots of game play even budget v expensive licensed games .

Gamers have so high expectation these days. will lots of competition for eyeballs/
