After waiting 1 week for the decommissioning... (why, FDev?) I just bought a new one today and everything works.

According to the game, the old one gets taken apart and sold. Hence decommissioning.
However, the new one you buy will have the same ID tag. So really it's basically the same carrier.

Cool, Thanks. For some reason, I got the impression that onced decommissioned, the carriers just sat there like derelict old space junk.
