FD, admit it: you cannot fix navy rank\invite\permit missions.

Back in my day, (2015? maybe 2016) it worked fine; just took forever and a day to rank up. But the missions always appeared.

If they're not being provided consistently or otherwise at the expected intervals, I hope they get it fixed for you guys.

Since these missions first appeared, they were a huge PITA for both players and FD programmers. The former constantly faced spawn problems and had to relog for missions to appear; sometimes it required several hours of relogging. The latter had to try and find a fix for all the problems associated with RNG nature of mission board.

3.0.3 was the final straw. You failed, FD, and failed spectacularly.

There is only proven way to fix all the problems with rank\invite\permit missions: Remove them and make navy ranks, permits and engineer invites work like Pilots Federation ranks and Shinrarta Dezhra permit. Which means automatically.

It's a win-win situation. We get simple, logical and uniform system for everything rank-related, and you eliminate a major problem that plagued ED from the very start. Please, pretty please, pretty please with cherry on top, stop clinging to a bad design decision and make this thing right.

Hours to get them ?, i dont know what you were doing wrong but once i reached 100% each time i would get them after 2 or 3 relogs with no problem. Fed rank Admiral Empire King , took almost a year to max rank them.

In the timescale that it should take why is a delay of a couple of days in sorting this even a thing... oh yes because some folks want it all now.

"I've only been here a week but why can't I have a Corvette now I've got the cash" :)

Hilarious how some people think that because people complain about missions that have never spawned reliabley and were bugged for days are a "we want an instant win crowd"

Did you even read the thread or just try come in and be antagonistic for no reason?

So many people think they are hilarious with there condescending answers when this stuff comes up.

And guess what, there usually the ones to complain how the forums how gone down hill,oh the irony!!

Meh - this is still not fixed? :S After one week?
Did FD fire the programmers? Or take them a longer vacation just after release of 3.0.3?

I want the whole Military Ranking system overhauled......as Michael Brookes hinted at way back in 2016.....to make Military Rank something you gain automatically by doing Missions from a Separate "Naval Reserve" mission board (in much the same way it was in Elite II & Elite III), with the Mission Difficulty relating to your current rank. Basically making an entirely military career a viability.

That's a great suggestion. I would love a military career.

If you take a military mission then interdictions shouldn't be avoidable via the silly interdiction minigame. Those missions should require combat skill. The higher the rank, the harder the mission.

Lets put that suggestion in the FDev gameplay suggestion box...

Tons and tons of gameplay suggestions but gameplay hasn't changed in years.

Gotta say, yeah, I agree too. Make it automatic.

Why have that 'one more' mission to gain a rank. Just pop it when it goes beyond 99%.

Personally, I'd wish we'd get actual sane military missions, completely removed from normal missions.

"Congrats commander, you've shoveled manure for a very long time so we are confident you can handle this corvette. See ya!"

Somehow it feels wrong.

I had them today. Didnt take them, because I keep telling the Empire I dont want their ' ranks. Still an 'outsider', and I dont need more because I already have the eagle, courier and clipper and dont care for flying bathtubs. :p

Out of the two choices, yes, I agree, I'd prefer special missions that were specific to ranking up. Something a little bit 'more' than the usual mission board fare.

I had a good laugh at that cartoon ... it revealed itself as I gradually scrolled down :D

I support the OP. A gateway that is always closed is not a gateway.

I was actually completing a Naval progression Federation Mission that was not possible to complete due to a well reported bug (enemies failing to spawn).

I instantly switched to Conan. It's a pre-release alpha. It says so on the launch screen. Sometimes the spider animations don't work so well.

I really don't understand why people are so melodramatic and painfully serious all the time when it is about a game. Reading something like that always remind me of kids playing politicians in the kindergarten... The proposal itself isn't that bad though. Apart from that I didn't have any problems with invites and ranking up missions so far. Perhaps also because I didn't rank up a lot and I don't really mind them to be rare. Well, at the moment there's a bug, so we can't see them, so of course there is an issue now. :D

So, just to clarify, this is how I would like to see things work by the end of the Beyond Season:

A newly minted Commander rocks up in Federal Space.....eager to begin a career with the Federal Navy. First of all, they need to become Cordial with the Federation, in order to unlock the Federal Navy Mission Board.

Once they can access that board, they will find a range of "Rank Appropriate" military missions, all of which will push the Commander closer to their next rank. At Ranks None-->Recruit, these missions will probably involve little more than Data Delivery, various haulage missions....albeit with a military flavour to them. When the Commander is ready for their Promotion, they will get a Chained Mission they need to complete. However, this mission will automatically appear as soon as they are eligible for promotion.

At Recruit rank, Commanders gain access to Federal Military Outposts, whose mission boards contain a larger number of Military Missions than Civilian Boards do. As the Commander rises up through the ranks, they will get access to more difficult & dangerous missions, & will gain access to Military Settlements, then Military Stations, then Naval Shipyards. Each of these military facilities would also play host to their own set of Traders, Engineers & Outfitting Services-the latter containing modules only available to Military Personnel (light weight, extra-long range Military Grade FSD's; Military Grade Weapons etc).

However, once you're in the military, you need to keep your nose clean. Higher military ranks would demand you remain Friendly or even Allied with the Federation.......& crimes against the Federation would cause you to lose Reputation, which could in turn lead you to lose rank. Gaining a Federal Bounty would result in an instant demotion, & you'd be locked out of the Naval Mission Board until that Bounty was lost.

At least, that is how I would like to see it work!

But if they can't rank up quickly, they can't get to the big ships fast, which FD is encouraging by selling the gaudy paint jobs [money]

Agreed with OP as well. How many years into the game's life are we, and it's still nigh-on impossible to find rankup missions despite multiple "fixes...?"

Well till this weekend I had not bothered with eaither the Feds or the Imps ranking missions. I happliy pick up missions depending on where Im going, most part I could care less about who they are for, its all about the money and materials.

This weekend I decided to see how far up the rankometer I could go just based on my as yet not cashed in Fed rep. Some when I have actually made it to Cadet ? Missed that. So with out much ado I picked an area with lots of Feds factions and controled systems and went hunting for rank missions.

I made it from cadet to Lt Commander each system I stopped at gave me a rank up mission, easy peasy so far. Picked up my next rank up mission and handed it in...... No rank advancement. Logged out and back in another rank advancement mission. Did it and went to the station to hand it in..... No rank advancement. 3 rank advancement missions 3 different stations and systems the same issue.

So It looks like its broken. Did a few more rep based Fed missions just to make sure my 100% rank was more than that. No change. Logged a ticket with FD, guess theyll just ignore it like the last 3 bugs I have reported to them.

As of now I say bin the whole Ranking system and just make it automatic like it is for combat and explorer ratings.
