Horizons FD: All the new steam reviews are thumbs down

I still get pulled out of warp constantly by fur de lances and anaconda's. The autopilot is completely broke. I think the engineer's is a total waste of time. This game was great and then F.D. just blew up the whole game with this expansion, if you can even call it that. It earned the bad review's. Id give it a bad review now to.

You do realise that you just know that all of this problem will be fix just in a few weeks later? And you will go to give a bad review? For what? You do realise that it is like shooting yourself in a leg?

Ppl today are so... not smart. [wacko]

You all keep saying that and it's not happening. I wish was but it's not. What a small idea the engineer's. There is so much they could have done like introduce an alien race. Maybe add something that make'[s it worth it to be a King or an Admiral. Instead we get these shadey engineer's. Who care's about the engineer's what a joke.

On a side note, I've been enjoying the game as much as ever. Had a hilarious crash and burn though (which is why I'm taking a break for ten minutes to drink a coffee and regain my composure :D). I took two 3+ million delivery missions in my trusty armed freighter, the Nemesis (Python) when I was about to make my first stop. 1.7 g planet, so I was approaching carefully when I hear a scream (my daughter having a tanty). I accidentally trigger the boost as I turn to see what's going on. The station Comms are kind enough to give me a speed approach warning and I accidentally go fa off to boot. O noes! Impact imminent, I pitch up, go fa on and boost to try and regain some space between myself and hard surface. It was to no avail. Fully loaded, my Python didn't stand a chance and next I know I'm facing the rebuy screen (and presumably some ticked off customers/employers). Love this game!

It sounds like a great solution guy!!!! Except how can we do it?

How can people "uprate" their ships?

I can certainly derate (reduce shields, armor, thrusters, weapons etc) by selling stuff, doesn't cost me anything, right? Try it. No loss at all, you keep all your cash.

Now get in your best ship that you've spent all your cash upgrading and you only have a couple rebuys in the bank.

Now go ahead, "uprate" it. Show me.

Are you really that dense or are you just being contrary?

I went from a Sidewinder, to an A-specced Sidewinder, to an A-specced DBS in 4 hours from a Clear Save.
Within a few days, I upgraded to a mostly A-specced Vulture.

I've been playing the CG most of the evening, with a rebuy of 500k, and about 1.5m in the bank.
I'm now sitting on 8mil (probably going to get about 17m from the CG).

Guess how many times I died? Once.

No, I'm not dense. You simply don't know how to play the game.

2.1 was fine , it was how all the other spacesims were just a bit easyer.

Now it seems we are getting more and more handholding and artificial limits to make sure the game has no learning curve and no imergent gameplay

Agreed.
I don't mind this current AI, but the ranks don't feel right; an Elite should feel like an Elite, right now, it feels like a Competent.

Edit: If the latest patch has addressed the reasons you gave a thumbs-down review, please take the time to update your review. The devs seem to have addressed quite a few issues.

Original Post:

All seem to be related to 2.1. Just in case no one is watching steam.

IMO they should have kept them as separate products, then ED would get all positives and then only Horizons would get the negatives. The original game was amazing.

Edit: Oops they are still separate products, my mistake.

Edit: Some have challenged my data, I added a reply with mire info here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...s-down/page2?p=4131463&viewfull=1#post4131463
Steam reviews are....questionable, at best they can be a guideline but they are made by "normal" people not professional reviewers that generally work to remain neutral in their stance.
As such remember that all steam reviews and votes, good or bad can be very biased. So yeah...
lol watch this thread get filled with pro 2.1 fanboys defending a lost cause
Without wanting to insult, your stance that those that enjoy 2.1 are 'fanboys' and defending a lost cause, isn't exactly any better?

Personally I think 2.1 is fine, AI is fine, it can be tricky and dangerous, but it can also be defeated. Which on the AI part, is at least how a game should be in my book, there should be parts of the game that are difficult and filled with risk and potential loss of ship and such, quite a few posts don't seem to like this, which is up to them as personality.

And on the whole random roll thing, people seem to continually be evaluating the result compared to what they 'want' meaning in short the best, instead of comparing it to the stock items they have, or current mod that they have. Which yeah, I don't know what to say to.
Add that in almost any other game with stats and loot, there is a similar random system, and people don't complain because they check if it is worth using, or doesn't use it. Main difference is you do not see the random rolls or range like you do in Elite. When people can't see what stat ranges they can get they are apparently not prone to getting upset about not getting the best, but make due with what they get and hope to get better over time?

And no, I am not a "fanboy", ranting and raving without reason, but maybe it is because I view is that of a programmer, so I already know how most mechanics work and can see the reasoning behind them?

Also coincided with the fact that there wasn't any football on Thursday or Friday.

I'm looking at the Saturday and Sunday figures, where there were plenty of football matches.

If you take any single hour and compare it with the same hour in the previous week, you can see whether the number of players goes up or down. From the time Engineers was released, the number of players went down by 10% for nearly every single hour when compared with the one in the previous week. As soon as the recent changes were made, each hour compared with the same hour in the previous week has increased.

As an example, there were 2269 people playing at 11:00 today. Last week, there were only 1939 people playing at 11:00 on Monday. Which ever hour you compare now, it's always more.

I try not to look at concurrent players though as it can give a false reading on the actual amount of players playing.
If you look at this site and look at audience in the last 2 weeks, the amount of players has a signinficant increase when there was no football, and has reduced again as the football restarts.
