FD just Nuked loads of trade routes!

So what should I do now to get an Anaconda with 70mio CR right now? Invest 20-30 hours in trading or 200-300 hours in bounty hunting?

Possibly not worry about getting the big ship. Master Chief did just fine in a Warthog and a couple of guns.

Elite is a grind simulator because there isn't much else for content right now, and people are just completely focused on money as some sort of end game.

I find this liberating personally, I didn't want to feel like, to quote the stupidly broken SL T-9's, "Keeping up with the Jones's"

What all this means is that for any good trade route, they will be run dry by all the t-9 and anacondas people from gamma are flying in and new comers to the game won't get a chance to catch up.
So FD made an online only game but don't worry if you don't want to play a MMO we have solo mode just like original elite. Except any good trade route you find will be dried up by other online players so not like old elite.
I think the developers have lost the run of themselves and they are trying to force this game into their 'vision' which does not make for any good gameplay except grinding as long as possible.
Every update makes this game worse so I don't anticipate it getting any better I the future.

@Vulture
It sounds like you don't like this game very much. I am being completely sincere when I ask "Why are you playing it?" and "What changes would you make to make it more enjoyable for everyone?"

People have been urging for ALL income to be improved for months, but FD don't give a crap because they're trying to keep their playerbase around as long as possible so that they have time to make some DLCs to sell so that this game doesn't turn out to be a big flop, which in all honesty it already is.

It's telling that they're already firing "content creators."

You are exactly right. FD don't care at all. At night, they sneak into your home and leave little rabbit poos under your pillow. They sneak out and laugh maniacally, you know something is wrong but you don't know what it is, it may take you days to find out it's rabbit poo, heck you may even mistake it for a chocolate chip. And if you eat it, it'll make FD so happy, because they love that you're suffering. They also love being told that they don't care about anything, it's like crack to them reading thread after thread, page after page, about how they don't care, how they don't respond enough to abusive twonks, how their 60 hour+ weeks are motivated by nothing but greed and hatred for YOU, yes just YOU. Of course the times they do come on and answer questions, some decent people will appreciate it but many others will demand answers and respect like mewling children how have had their ice cream stolen by a gull. Obviously a gull employed by David Braben himself, because he hates your children and also hates you and clearly just wants your money.

You have my complete sympathy, Frontier, those evil EVIL developers drugged me and chopped my happy parts off. They then hung them on a Christmas Tree and sent me the photos whilst defiling my parents with broomsticks.

So evil they are, let's all get together and mock them some more as if there aren't humans reading these messages in their development team, laughing as they do, eating their popcorn and playing Solitaire rather than working their backsides off to make the game better. Then we can all slap each other on the back and congratulate ourselves at how wonderful, astute and amazing we are and how we'd make a considerably MUCH better game if we had the chance.

(FYI, your tone deserved every bit of that sarcastic virtiol, try adjusting it and being a bit more polite next time and maybe people will take you seriously and I'll consider not mocking you next time.)

I think you are giving FD way too much credit. They don't have a vision as it relates to how the dynamic economy is supposed to function. If they did, we'd know it by now. I also don't think they are trying to maintain theri customer base, because the only CMDRS that would support the economic nerfing are the hardcore purists or those that made their riches and don't want to see others have any similar opportunity. The rest of us that put a premium on our time, don't drink this koolaid.

FD is reactionary and behind the curve. And with serious broken features like multiplayer alive and kicking, it's a shame that anyone finding a quick money making opportunity must be crushed.

How about crushing the bugs and broken features in the game FD?

One thing I've noticed in most of the posts of people complaining is a reference towards "how am I supposed to get an anaconda?". My question is, "What would you do with it if you had it?" Nowhere in this game do I see anything that requires anyone to have an Anaconda to do anything. Exploring, mining, trading, pirating, bounty hunting, missions can ALL be done in most any ship in the game. Oh, I'm sure it would be NICE to have an Anaconda to fly around but I just don't see where I HAVE to have one!

Heck, I bet over time, you could make about as many credits in a Cobra, Asp, or Adder just because you have much less support costs associated with them. And, if you end up getting ganked or explode for some silly reason, much less to worry about for replacement!

Think about it!;)

They are, it's just that the game is really in unoficial beta state right now. If you researched the game before buying it you would know that. The forums have been swamped with this and that being broken or unfinished for months.

As far as being reactionary. I don't think so. They are simply chipping at the block at their own place and releasing stuff as it gets done. Why would they pay too much attention to the forums? Just a bunch of noise that if followed too closely would leave no time for production.

Get some patience or play something for a couple of months and come back later. The comms should be fixed some time in march and it will be more of a MP game with the opportunity to team up with other players. At which point it should be closer to what release should have been.

As many people (including myself) have already said multitudes of times in this and other threads. There's absolutely nothing to do in this game right now besides grind for bigger ships. You're right, there's no reason to have bigger ships besides the fact that bigger ships are cool.

I, and others, want big ships because they're cool, not because they're necessary. Given the complete lack of ANYTHING fun to do in game right now, at least FD could take pity on us and let us grind until we die of boredom to get the big ships.

But it seems that FD never want anyone to fly said big ships.... for some reason which cannot be comprehended.

an easy credit making ability has been balanced, gives more reason to those doing trade missions, working with a faction or a major power to get better rewards for a mix of activities

instead of core world trade runs there are trading opportunites in fringe and smaller areas. Just requires a bit of brain power

*Sigh* Well, I can see your point. Your idea of fun is to fly the biggest baddest ship. I can get that. My idea of fun is to do everything else I guess. Hope you can get that. Funny tho, I find lots to do. I'm sorry you and others don't. Don't get me wrong, I think some of the changes are crappy as well, but if something was broken or not working properly and they fix it, then I can deal with that. I'll just have to "adapt and overcome"!

Peace bro and Don't shoot! I'm just an Onion Head hauler!

Another thing to consider here is the ecconomic food chain all starts with trading.

Take away the profit for trading and you take away the profit for piracy....

Take away the pirates and there isn't anyone to bounty hunt....

So should we all be explorers then?

It's still 1.07 but with new version of launcher.

CMDR NeoN HaZe

I see what you are saying but there is already no profit for piracy. I think people who are pirates do so for the fun of it and so will continue. However, traders will be even less likely now to play open. With less profit the penalty of losing ship and cargo are much greater.

As a bounty hunter I saw trading as being way out of balance compared to other professions with people being able to buy pythons and anaconda's already. I estimate that as a bounty hunter such ships take 2 to 3 years to afford. So whilst I am in favour of the nerf for solo mode I think they should buff profits for open traders

A game to be enjoyed for years and yet people already complain about how hard it will be to get the biggest ship... a few weeks after release... sigh.
That's NOT what this game is about.
-
FD should put a few warning signs on their site.
Or some sort of test to make sure the buyer is in the correct state of mind for this type of game.
I'm glad I now have to look for better trade routes on a more regular basis. It was WAY too easy.

Hold up....are you suggesting that it should take years to get the bigger ship instead of days or weeks? Yeah, ED will lose alot of CMDRs in the next year if this is the case.

I wish people would quit coming up with these terribly dumb analogies when they're trying to excuse how boring Elite is.

"OH, but REAL mining is really boring, so it should be boring in the game too."
"People that work at STARBUCKS don't ever get to own a ferrari when they grind their entire lives, so why should you?"
"Trucking in real life takes forever and destroys your body whilst being incredibly boring, so Elite should be like that too!"

This is a VIDEOGAME that people are supposed to play to have FUN. I know everyone has been thoroughly brainwashed by companies that grinding for imaginary credits/guns/progression/levels/whatever is a good thing, but just because something is terrible in real life doesn't mean that I should spend my free time doing something terrible in game.

And inb4 someone tells me to do something else.

What else is there to do in game that you can do for free, without hours/days/weeks of grinding?

This entire game is a grind simulator. This might as well be called Elite: Boring Trade Routes That Pay a Pittance.

Now it's boring trade routes that pay a pittance for a little bit, then you have to pay because you're taking a loss. Also the ship you ground your ass off to get is now screwed over and not worth the hassle.
