FD & PS4 players, you should be aware that attempts are being made to sabotage launch.

I've skipped about 150 posts so I apologise if this has already been mentioned.

We know that all platforms influence the BGS, so why not ask a bunch of PC/Xbox players to bounty hunt in the starting system and turn in their bounties at the start station? Their accumulated effort over the next couple of days and through this week should counter the syssec sniping that these... individuals... will be doing.

Us pc players like whining about nasty griefers but hate being proactive. :)

There is no point, its just venting frustration in anattempt to feel in control. They just castrated losersback to killing sideys. And willing to pay real money. Have pity on them. :)

HA HA HA, this my friend is so true, very very sad indeed. I am angry at them for this, but I wont pity anyone who would buy a ps4 just for this. That is beyond any sign of logic, we shouldn't pity the mentally ill

The PC master race has no time for "logic"! That's for peasants, we only care about FOV sliders and 60FPS

It's not the ships that were game breaking - it is entirely possible to get similar (or even better) rolls legitimately. It's how they got them that was the problem. Essentially it went something along the lines of aborting a grade 1 roll, glitching the menu, then starting a grade 5 roll. Rather than use extremely rare grade 5 engineers mats for the roll they managed to force the game to use the common grade 1 mats instead. This meant that they could happily roll all day until they got the highest rated grade 5 roll they could possibly get & keep it.

Rinse & repeat for all possible modules & they successfully cheated their way to a god rolled ship, or 2, or 4, 10 etc.

Of course this sparked off an arms race between groups whom felt "forced" to do the same to keep up with their god rolled opponents because "everyone else was doing it" (rather than report the offending CMDRS). it spread to the wider public where serial gankers, griefers all did the same as did some members of the public at large that "did it out of curiosity" (honestly guv), or felt it affected nobody because "they play in solo" (conveniently forgetting that every action they do on the shared BGS affects it for all players).

FD took all their ill gotten gains away - and all legitimately rolled ones in the same category as while they could see the exploit was used, they couldn't directly tell which exact ones were legitimate or exploited. Players who cheated their way to greatness woke up one morning & discovered that all they had was lost, even those who just upgraded "6/7 modules out of curiosity" and "played in solo" (honest guv) and even then "only a little bit". Even those who "rolled but didn't accept the result" (honestly guv) found their engineered modules had been taken away...

Oh they monked, they moaned they went to reddit and wailed (knowing that sympathy was sorely lacking on the official forums) "it's not fair!" they cried "I cheated my way fair & square to get those things". Those that did it "just out of curiosity" or "just a little bit" (honestly guv) felt aggrieved because they were punished the same as the bigger cheaters and lost all their modules too. The big cheaters felt aggrieved because they just lost their advantage and have to build it back up (aww).

So now some of the more childish ones have decided that they shall attempt to spoil some things because they were punished too harshly well aren't they just precious.

Oh, & if they do manage to lock the starters & nearby systems they are also gonna struggle to get out of their sidy...

Have some rep for that brilliant response [up]

Just a couple of things to add . . .

Firstly, FDev have the ability to place commanders in 'jail', basically they can force you into your own private instance so you can no longer interact. They've never given out numbers of how many they've done this to, or for how long, but it is a known punishment method FDev have.

Secondly, on UA bombing; to do this you need a black market, and for those starting in LHS 3447 this won't work thanks to Power Play. Why? Well, LHS 3447 is controlled by Hudson, and one of his 'benefits' is that he shuts down all black markets in systems he controls . . . bye bye UA bombing :) (Asellus Primus is controlled by Mahon, so UA bombing is still possible there)

So, the FDev gods can deligates various certain individuals to basically be angels which have the ability to do things they them selves don't want to get involved in. Or as they so often put it, good idea, were looking into it, let you know later, keep checking the forums. If a player can control black markets, why can't FDev. As you stated in a different reply to me, it's their game, I'm basically just renting it via a licenses. Should I have a problem in any part of the design or as I've heard spirt of the game. I must go to the player in charge of a system for resolve, not FDev. Hmmmmm

I'm new to this new concept of game designers being God. I recon it the sign of the times we live in. I now know why they stopped the ability to play completely off line. They have no control over what I could or couldn't, did or didn't do. Wow, are there other games that are doing this. Is off line availability going the way of the Dinosaures? I certain hope not, I'm told old to be under parental control and as an Atheist, don't care for god like controls. But then again I'm an old fart, you youngens have learned to accept the status quote and not question it. It's simular to the Illusory truth effect where as a lie told enough times and long enough becomes a fact. Do something often enough and long enough it becomes the status quote. Never challange the status quote or your labled an conspiritor.

Umm hi Billl.

Your first sentence - I think you've misunderstood the concept of 'shadowbanning'. It's very very rare; I know it's at least happened twice. There's a lot of myth around it.

It's a new concept of gaming. You've paid to join the ride. You don't own anything really.

The offline thing - it's copy protection, pure and simple. Braben was stung badly over FE2 being pirated so heavily. He vowed it wouldn't happen again. This is the main reason it's an online game, and of course marketing reasons.

Does Braben have a God complex? Some might say.

Just park some Thargoids in the starter systems. That will keep them busy.

Or perhaps offer them some Fidget Spinners, that would work too.

Righty, I have gone back to the stater system in my Cobra MkIII and hopped into the basic Sidey (ages since I have been there and done that!).... So at LHS 3447... it is tricky to get out without upgrades. I bought a fuel scoop for 309 credits and made a few jumps...but my base 7 LY jump range kept me tight into the start system. Oh dear. It is worse than I remembered: You have basically got to grind a fair bit until you can afford the upgrades to get out of there. Now, if the station(s) are on lock-down we may have a problem actually getting out of the immediate zone.

It's not the meds, au contraire. My problem is basically the same as y'alls when dealing with a generation well behind yours. The world of video gaming has changed a lot over the years and if one falls behind it's a to recover, even more so when compared with the board games I grew up with. As of todate, I'd recon it due to dumb luck, any and all games I've downloaded have an off line feature, which mostly due to my connetion problems utilize. ED is my first attempt at an online multiplayer enviroment. None of my previous 68 years of logic seems to be of any use. I could be considered a young child when it comes to the goings ons, in's and out's of you much older players. I'll eventually get it, but right now it is so new (to me) that it's hard to get my head around all of it.

I'm assuming that once the release happens and the game is in progress, the majority of my questions will only be about issues in the actual game as to "How to do this or that". Though I've watched just about every video available and viewed numerious fourms. It's gonna take actual game play to resolve most my issues.

The majority of y'all grew up with video games and grew along with the numerious changes. So it's easy to understand but hard to comprehend others haven't exspelling hen they don't get involved like I am doing. I've owned and operated until my retirement an accounting business that specialized in individual and small bussiness taxes. Accounting was my major in college, astronomy was my minor. So, where as y'all have a few years experience with video games, I have scores in my endevors. Just like one can learn to do their own taxes, I will learn to do this video gaming thing which in one year apparently due to luck format has changed dramically.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the void of deep space. Gonna be awile, I don't have a motorized wheel chair. And my sidney is ADA compliant.

Yes they have "campaigned" before. Got them absolutely nowhere, though. :)
