FDev need to do something about Lave

Assuming someone wanted a break from the Engineering grind - is there a thread (or two threads) describing the current options in supporting the sides in this struggle? Asking for a friend who doesn't like discord ;)

We're delighted with some of the posts in this thread indicating they understand what we're doing in the game. Much appreciated, CMDRs.

We're genuinely thrilled with all those engaged and getting involved with this emergent game play through the BGS.

Or get a group together to remove the lockdown. In this case the lockdown has created gameplay.

Depends how you look at it.

Only depends if you see locking out the majority of gameplay to “create” a very small sliver of it as equivalent. Lockdown isn’t a safeguard feature, it’s a weapon of irritation.

In a galaxy this big lockdown does not kill general gameplay. :)
But engineers should definitely not be locked down.

The galaxy can be 400 trillion stars, doesn’t matter because there will always be a handful of significant systems. The only ones that matter.

I just wanted to pop in and give the view of a new"ish" player (6 months PC and another 3 in PS4). About a month ago I started the ENG mat grind, I maxed out every mat first (cus I wanted to grind once and not worry about waiting). Then I set to upgrading my vette step by step with shield boosters being last. Unfortunately as luck would have it I waited until 7/28 to do the last bit (shield boosters).

At first I was rather peeved about the station in lockdown, IMO it seems silly that any player group could block ENG game content (and yes IMO blocking unlock is blocking content). Though I didn't come here to cry, instead I did some reading on the BGS and started turning in 300+ bounties per day. Days crept by 1,2.... now 8 and this is once again getting into peeved territory. I think that the system is flawed and that it would be nice and useful if FDEV looked into fixes for blockading game content. I dont even think that this is about the Brandy, its an RP conflict between independents and Alliance faction bois. The ENG unlock is simply a casualty of emergent BGS play (which I support).

*Puts New Player Hat on* I think this type of blockading is seriously detrimental to your new players, I have an extreme amount of patience so I will wait my turn, but how many other people will just give up and move on to another game (because they cant complete their builds / be competitive in PvP / or see the full potential of their ship). I think this game needs all the players it can get, and stuff like this will just turn people away. And to those who would suggest otherwise, Didi is a big deal. As it stands now there is an unreasonable difference between ENG and NonENG shield boosted ships, basically with the perma lockdown in place new players can NEVER compete int he current meta.

There seem to be a number of ways to fix this, but here are some I can see:

1.) Rebalance the "point" system for crime and bounties. Making the points dependent on bounty amount would help in this regard (IE lots of high bounty worth more points than crimes against lowly sidewinders)
2.) Making ENG unlock rares available through black market during lockdown (perhaps with 1/3 less stock and 10x the original price - so lockdown still has a measurable negative side effect)
3.) Drastically reduce the amount of time a Lockdown can be in effect. 14 days is crazy, no station should be under lockdown that long.

Anyways, this is among my first forays into the forums so be kind. My intention is not to step on toes or tell people how to play the game. Just wanted to give my .02 as a new player. *Note* I also had not considered getting my SB's to rank 3 from other ENG, I will go do that now as its better than nothing)

But then there is no boom and I have to go there soooooo often grindgrindgrindgrind /s

I did most of the unlocks without boom states, you only need to do it once.

Do people want a solution based on how the game works, or they want FD to hand of god everything every time something gets hard? I though the consensus was FD shouldn't hand of god stuff?

FD shouldn't hand of God stuff unless it inconveniences ME! ;)
And all the salt we're accused of seems to be flowing very freely from everyone other than ourselves, while we're just enjoying the game play.

But the Alliance is about mutual defence, LRN attacked Lave when it was controlled by an Alliance faction. We're merely doing what the Alliance should do in that position - defend the interests of the Alliance. If the BBC* invaded France, what would NATO do? (Except possibly laugh at the absurdity of it).

I keep reading about the LRN attacking Lave, but as far as I know the LRN gained Lave via an election which was brought about by their supporters. Not the LRN themselves. The only people I see using murder as a weapon in this conflict are the AEDC. FYI Lave was always Independent until recently. The AEDC have no legitmate claim to LAVE
but even if they did it should not use underhanded tactics and murder to win their battles. They should live up to their name and use diplomacy.

I would echo what a number of people posting in this foum thread have said and that is if you want the lockdown removed then get your buddies together and go take a side.

As far as I know the two main protagonists that are coordinating this conflict are:
Cmndr Mangal Oemie for the AEDC
Cmndr Whoeva for the LRN

It's a bit confusing because there's a lot of player groups that are suporting both sides that have no relation to either PMF and are not communicating with them. Just performing actions that they think are helping even though they may actually be having the opposite effect.

It's made even more confusing because the AEDC don't know which alliance factions are backing them, which are abstaining and which are actively supporting the LRN.

Good luck sorting that lot out LoL

Does your friend know that Discord works in a browser and needs no installation?

This is hilarious.
Your twisting of the facts is beautiful sir.

An election triggered through use of the murder mechanic.
Who exactly is "the LRN themselves" if not "their supporters"?
Do you have any understanding of how this game works?

The influence records I have for Lave show Alliance factions ruling the system since day 1. When exactly are you claiming it became independent? The lore I'm aware of suggests it's been Alliance for what, 50 years or more, so just after the formation of the Alliance.

Keep up your RP Dharrch, I just don't know which game you're playing here.

;)

No! but I am learning. Fast!

I am with the ARC, we have supporters that I have never seen or spoken to. Are they ARC?
No!
I'm sure that the AEDC are the same. You have members that you don't control. Or at least hidden supporters you know nothing of.
The LRN are in the unique position of having a galaxy filled with hidden supporters. And it is they that democratically decided to win Lave for the LRN by whatever means.
The end result was an election which was fairly won.
Are the LRN their supporters or vice versa?
No!

Am I a salt factory?
No! I don't care that much. I'm playing the game as I see it and I see it as the AEDC are in the wrong. so insults and salt aside I am going to keep opposing the AEDC until they come to diplomatic teerms with the LRN. This is the Alliance way and we are told it is the AEDC way too.

As an aside.
I've been playing the game since '84 and Lave was Independent then. As for Lore. That's just some twaddle written by somebody out of game to fit the new stuff going on. It's got nothing to do with the game or the BGS as far as most of us are concerned. Don't forget many of us never read the books, nor do we want to.
The claim that Lave is a major Alliance system seems to be based on there being an Alliance military leader based here. I say "So what?". It's possible to have major installations outside of one's own areas of control. Even lose them when they should never have been there in the first place.

Another thing I would say to you is that sometimes overplaying the RP thing can be hurtful to both sides of the argument regardless of the truth. RP is cool but when it goes too far it's somewhat scary. Most of the people playing this game are only here to have a blast flying around shooting stuff.

Anyway I didn't come here to swap insults or propoganda with you. One day all this stuff will blow away and we will be friends again. whatever the outcome. You can reply if you wish I will not post anything more.
Please feel free to have the last word.

I created an account to comment on this thread,
This situation in Lave is kinda , there is a mission objective there and it's been in lockdown for weeks.
I have spent hours between yesterday and today, out there now trying to do what Frontier advises for getting a system out of lockdown, but because of some player shenanigans that I admit I do not fully understand (and after reading this thread, neither do you guys) I cannot complete my vett build.

Even the East India guys, whom I just learn about, are also out now.

This is an exploit that players are abusing to restrict the ability to create LVL 4 & 5 Shield boosters.

FRONTIER PUT THE WINE IN ANOTHER SYSTEM!!!!!!!

There's only one solution here that would resolve everything for all players, except those favouring Lave Radio and the Alliance - we could always start a major drive to get Orevre Universal Limited into power to give custody of the system to the Federation. Feds get system, lockdown ends, shop gets extra stock; it's a win for everyone except rebels and terrorists.

So by playing the game, you can stop people from playing the game?! I have to be honest I am way too stupid to understand this.

People then complain that by people playing the game, people can't play the game. If people stop playing, will they stop complaining?

I'm not yet committed to powerplay but missions and CG's are pretty much all my play in solo or open. So if we (people playing the game) can't play the game (have some influence over BGS) how do we play the game?

My tiny brain hurts. Does any of this make sense? I thought I just wanted to schlep about the galaxy and occasionally shoot things. You know, for fun.

There is another:

Make rares an occasional spawn in wreckage POIs in the local region, problem solved.

There should always be more than one way to achieve an in-game objective.
