Ships Federal Corvette

It all really hinges on if other c4 weapons are introduced. IF some c4 lasers are added into the game with 1.5 I betcha it will be pretty awesome.
Preferably with the option of gimbals or turrets, seeing as we don't know if the corvette will have the maneuverability to effectively utilize fixed.

Oh, and c4 multicannons please! ;)

Here is my take on it.

Like everyone else I have made a lot of assumtions. I assume the "hatch" at the front of the Corvette is a hardpoint that is the same size as the one on the front of the Anaconda. I have matched these to size. Once that was aligned the other elements on the two ships also matched in size. I have marked these on the images. I'm not sure if those parts should be the same size, but the result is that (taking the slight difference in perspective into account) the Corvette is aprrox. one third longer than the Anaconda, which matches rumors that have been around for a long while. This scaling also shows them as having almost identical width.

But then, who knows. All of this discussion reminds me of the 'arguments' that occured before Horizons was announced where so many people refused to believe it was going to be Planetary Landings... :D

It is funny how every estimate is wildly different!!:D

I'd actually love it if the Corvette was really fast *BUT* with really slow acceleration. That's what I'd expect from a huge ship like that. So if you're up against one in combat you should have a decent chance of escape in small, agile ships; but if you don't get out of there before it's up to speed.... good luck!

I'd also love it if it were faster in supercruise than others ships (bar perhaps the upcoming Cutter). No one's going to be interdicting these, are they? ;)

hmm, your take seems to be about right, even though when i think you are using the wrong elements on the corvette. look at what i have circled out as "large slot" has the same markings on it as the large slot on the anaconda. what you ahve marked for utility slots are most likely the RCS Thrusters, the Utility slots are probably the six other elements that are "a square hole in a square frame", leaving two of them being on the underside.

I'm inclined to think Mushroom's take on the scale is about right. Everything "Fight" about the Anaconda, in a slimmer, meaner package.

I expect the I-Cutter to be around the same length, but wider with it's nacelles (that fold up for landing, I hope). More of an ultimate-tier explorer with some good fight potential.

I dont really get why people are freaking about the hardpoints.

DPS is distributor limited, 3 big lasers is enough to suck the life out of a class 8 distrib fast even with 4 pips in it.

If we had Class 4 lasers they wouldnt do any more damage over time before they overheated than what we have already.

Interesting. I'd say you are probably spot on with the large hardpoint locations. It doesn't change the relative scale too much either:

People are freaking out about the hardpoints because they show that the largest Federal combat vehicle players can control has inferior firepower to an Anaconda, which is a multirole ship with no rank requirements for ownership. It was assumed by many that the Corvette would be at the very least a sidegrade to the Anaconda in combat, not a downgrade.

Explain to me how it is inferior to an Anaconda if it has the same power distributor.

You know, I'd completely understand if going forward Frontier stop giving out preview details.

It was exactly the same with the Vulture.

People moaning about stuff they know nothing about.

I don't recall people moaning about the vulture. I mostly just remember people being excited.

The only problem anyone had with the Vulture was the price. Saying people know nothing about the ship is nonsense. We know what size and how many weapons it mounts, and we know empirically the maximum amount of damage it can put out with them. The only thing that's up in the air is if we'll get any new choices for class 4 weapons, and thus far FD hasn't dropped us any hints.

Why?

Some post are more than correct in my opinion.

As it is now, from what I have read, the Federal Corvette looks like an improved Fdl: and although it should be a fighter class, a moltirole ship (conda) looks like more powerfull

Defining "power" in terms of number of guns is just silly, by that argument 30 huge hardpoints on a Sidewinder is "more powerful"?

You also don't even know how much the Corvette will cost, perhaps being less "powerful" than the Anaconda is intended.

People literally don't have the details and are still moaning.

Well I also think you are quick to use "moaning" for "discussing".

Don't make me start quoting people, look back a few posts it's not hard to see people moaning. How about I say complaining instead is that better.

"Complaining" about something they know nothing about.
