Federal Powers are too weak!

The Federation has the worst position in the galaxy; underneath the Alliance and above the Empire and Independent Powers. This means we are always getting attacked. Our fortifications are always cancelled, and we only just hold on to them. Whereas Arissa Lavingy-Duval (I think i spelled that right), second in terms of power, has nearly all systems fortified. We can't do anything, and there is no reason to join Hudson; the special module, a frag cannon that does less power is useless, all Hudson does is combat which makes it hard and we are always being attacked. The Federation has no decent ships either; we all know that the only Fed ship, the Dropship, doesn't compare to the Clipper or even the Courier. It looks as if the F63 Condor will be added soon, as in the XBox 1 trailer we saw the cockpit of one, but no one will fly it, because it breaks if you so much as look at it. The Federal Corvette needs to be added soon and be like the Anaconda, but cheaper, so that the Federation has a chance. As it is, there is little benefit to joining any Federal power at the minute. We have plenty of idiots/intentional griefers prepping bad systems, and we can't fortify our systems. Hudson is going to drop next cycle, and soom the Empire will take all we have. Nanomam isn't even a Federation system, which really makes me think FD are just setting up Hudson to fall down. Nearly all the Commumity Goals are aimed at the Empire, and the Federation gets little to no attention, aside from when they killed off Halsey, presumably so they didn't need to bother making a profile for her Power.A much better argument like this can be found at http://www.reddit.com/r/FederalNavy/comments/39pcwt/why_even_bother/

Basically, for PowerPlay to be fair for us Fed supporters, we need Hudson at least (as you can guess, i joined Hudson which is why i refer to him as opposed to Winters) to have a chance against the Empire. We have no strengths, and as all players seem to join the Empire it's only a matter of time until the Federation falls. We need direct interference from above (i.e. Frontier) to even the odds for the Federation.

Yeah. Whilst I agree the rewards could do with balancing since I'd bet 75% of the people pledged to Duval just want the shield.

On the other hand it is a simulation and having the sides evenly balanced isn't fun. We want a massive powershift followed by a Dev action resulting in the "Federation strikes back" and "The return of the Federals". Or is that something else?

Hudson?
I am a bit surprised. Winter is under fire all the time because of the 15 merits per kill. (undermining)
Hudosn doesnt have that else I had attacked him and Arissa also not (for ppl from empire) and that's bad because she might become unstoppable. Bad PP design.
Anyway you shouldn't be so surprised. Frontiers heart seems to be very clear with the Empire.

erhhh say what?

Hudson is by far the biggest Power and his standing increased in last cycle.

The reason why many are attacking Hudson are to keep him from taking over the Galaxy
His CC potential are insane if he where allowed to fortify his control systems.

Hudson are the current top dog, as other powers expand they will sooner or later face same problems.

Most powers fails in fortification, exception to this is sofar primarily Duval.
all powers have players that prep bad systems.

nice bit of propaganda OP.

ALD may be in 2nd place but Winters is still bigger and Hudson is much bigger.
I think Hudson has over 450 exploited systems, nearly double ALD.

Patreus has been battered from pillar to post, and the 3 independent Powers are only there because no one can be bothered attacking them.

How much bigger will the biggest Power get at the end of this cycle? 2 more systems? 5?

ALD and AD (nice names Frontier) battled it out for Cartoi. I'm not sure what the final Prep numbers were but I think both sides were over 150000T.
That's 1.5 billion worth of reports for each side. Competition between the empire is there, its just impossible to undermine other Powers in the same faction. Torval would swallow up Patreus if she could.

If the galaxy doesn't unite behind the federation we will be crushed under its boot soon enough. Ask the onion farmers.

You nailed it. This game is Empire biased. I also like to add the Alliance is in worst shape.

Aisling Duval and Arissa Lavigny-Duval are two different powers. Aisling offers shield and Arissa (who is on second place) - railgun.
A lot of people pledged to Arissa because of her ideology, methods and increased bounties. And damn, lorewise she's way way more interesting than Hudson. In fact pretty much any Imperial power has more interesting background, story and charm than all federation powers put together.

Pretty much the same goes to independent powers. More or less stands out Utopian Legolas, but his methods are meh.

For the first week we are at the top. Almost none of our systems are being fortified and 2 of our expansions are now failing. Whereas Arissa has pretty much every system fortified and expansions going well. We're only at the top because the entire Federation space has been about halved between Hudson and Winters, whereas the Empire was quatered for all 4 powers. It's much harder for us because we have so many more systems to attempt to fortify, and prepare and expand. We don't have enough people who know what they're doing. Soon, the rest of the Empire will unite under Arissa and then all of non-Imperial space will fall to them. With people preparing Goombridge (i think that's the system), which has a potential of 38 CC instead of Mullag, which has a potential of 173 CC, we also don't have the best players. One expansion that i thought was safe, Zaragas, is now failing, probably because every other Power in the game is attacking Hudson and trying to weaken him.

From this it sounds as if the problem is that Hudson doesn't have enough supporters. In which case yes, his power will wane. But that doesn't guarantee that he won't be able to rise again.

Asking for changes in the second cycle of the game is somewhat premature.

You do understand the Federal Corvette is gonna be bigger then the anna....cheaper is out of the question. However i do agree the alliance and Feds look like poo compared to the empire

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is here. The Federation is in a strategically bad place, Hudson is weak (compared to his reach) because he took over as President under relatively undemocratic circumstances, and he's inexperienced which leads to disorganisation. Then you add in that the Imperial powers are far more focused and have much more loyal followers (as you'd expect in an Imperial context). The fact that he's starting to lose ground is simply a function of those things; it's not just a natural consequence, it's lore-correct.

Here's the thing - people support Aisling and Arissa not just because of the modules, but also because they've had a lot more exposure (Hudson lacks this due to his relatively new appearance on the scene, and Winters was never more than a stopgap) and the players themselves are more organised.

You want the Feds to get more traction? Start trying to attract people to your cause. Write stories, and get some propaganda out there. That part of the game (ie outside the game itself) has been all Imperial so far, so perhaps it's time for more of an organised push for the Feds.

Incidentally, you may well see a mass defection from Arissa and Aisling if Kahina ever ends up as a Power.

I'm with Arissa, by the way, and have been from the beginning (not just PP). This is all pointless advice anyway, because we'll crush your puny democracy so you too can bask ;)

Hudson 477 systems
Winters 290 systems

Lavigny 245 systems
Torval 205 systems
Patreus 133 systems
Aisling 134 systems

767 Federation Powers Systems
717 Imperial Powers systems

Thats right, the 2 Federation Powers are larger than the 4 Imperial Powers combined.
Thats after the expansion last cycle.

The above posts make it clear the Fed powers started very strong and are staying that way. They might not expand so fast but they will keep that huge capital base quite straightforwardly.

There's no particular reason to think either will start losing systems and certainly neither are anywhere remotely near collapse.

I think once xbox players are able to help out in powerplay, the federations numbers will increase.

My reasoning is that a console release will attract more Americans, and since the federation is an America analog, it'll attract more players to the feds.
