feedback from released horizons using VR please...

I am waiting for the download servers to get a rest before I download horizons tomorrow. In the meantime I just wanted to get a heads up from any of you who already tried horizon release today(using oculus of course)? Especially interested in if FPS losses and supercruise judder/lag issue.

Well 0.8 worked but I had a big black bar on the left and wasn't centered. Not sure if it is a me thing but nothing I tried would correct it.

Bad, bad judder in planetary starports, some judder in orbital cruise on gtx 970, even on low. Supercruise judder is completely gone for me.

I tried the 0.8 SDK / steamVR but I get crazy judder on a gtx970 (didn't try the 75hz fix suggested because my pc is connected to a tv that has max 60hz refresh). Switched back to 0.5 and it works pretty well.

works great if you centre yourself at the start before you enter game

only trouble i had was selecting map planets to create a route

I had a lot judder too, then I lowered a lot. I made it as smooth as possible, without going to much down with Terrain. I got used to it really fast! At the moment I'm driving slowly and smooth with my SRV on a planet, that reminds me of Colorado! So many landscapes to explore! Horizons is awesome!

Recenter works, try to bind again!

Did you get judder at planetary spaceports? Can you tell your specs? Everything on low and judder still here.

Unfortunately, since reinstalling W10 I haven't been able to use my DK2 at all :( Spent far too long trying solutions it's now just stuffed in a box.

I can't even figure out how to start it in VR mode. Oculus hooked up.... 0.8. 'Start in VR MODE' nothing.

and by nothing I mean the game starts up as if normal... doesn't activate my oculus.

I was having a real nightmare with it but got it sorted at last.

Start SteamVR and do the room setup. I did mine for standing and followed the onscreen instructions. Started ED Horizons 64 bit and was a little off center but hitting F12 sorted that and it is perfect. A little judder to start at the star port but after a few seconds, smooth as it should be and a quick fly out and back had it running nicely.

Using the 0.5 switcher, Windows 10, the Rift works fine for me except that I had to turn down graphics quality settings a fair bit for landings and SRV stuff. Using a GTX980. And the mouse widget is still not at infinity.

Sorry dumb question but just to check...there's no performance difference using the switcher compared with just doing it the long way of uninstalling and reinstalling yourself is there?

So I see most people get judder on planets huh...well at least I see some people report sc judder is gone. I hope frontier continue to optimize their code for planetary stuff. I will have my first go at horizons later today and will report back with my findings...

I had no luck with SDK 0.6 on Windows 10 64bit. SDK 0.5 worked.

If you're not going to use the DK2 at all, I suggest selling it on E-bay. Ever since Oculus stopped production, developers have been buying them for a premium (currently ~$500). Use that to buy the CV1 when it comes out.

As to my experience, I get slight judder on the surface with a GeForce 970. I use to, and still get worse judder inside a Coriolis station. It's not too bad, as long as I don't go swinging my head around widely. I turned down the shadows, and have most everything else set to about "medium."

This is using SDK 0.5. I tried SDK 0.8 with SteamVR, but couldn't get my monitor to the prerequisite 75hz, so it was terrible. A combination of a little judder and a lot of blur (looked interlaced).

I got it to work by installing the Windows 8.1 graphics drivers and then creating a shortcut to the install SDK 0.5.0.1 rift file set to compatibility Windows 8 mode. It then installed the display driver and worked.
