Finished with mining

I like mining - occasionally. I used to do months of the stuff in an Asp and it wore thin.

The Intergalactic Mining Union are a great group to join if you want to wing up. Good fun to be had with them.

Mining is fun, you can mine precious stuff and get materials and blow up pirates at the same time, best place to do this is ofc pristine metallic haz res [yesnod]

Bromelite for Bill Turner.... Needed to wing up for that.

*shudder*

Oh my God, don't remind me of that. :x
One of the most horrible experiences I had.

I was just on my way back to Bill, when I came across my first neutron star.
Silly me had the grand idea to try out the FSD supercharge thingy.
Long story short.: Messed up big time, dropped from super cruise, couldn't escape, exploded.
Gone was the Bromelite. [knocked out]

Had to do the mining all over again.
Ah well, "Stupid is as stupid does.".

I have a strange relationship with mining.
I'll do it to get something specific for an unlock or a CG and rather enjoy it (in a wierd kind of relaxing way) but the momment I have what I need I stop and never concider doing it again until I have to.

That's like me and baths.

It's not for everyone. If you're a combat focused pilot, mining will seem like the most mind-numbing drudgery imaginable. OTOH, if you're combat-averse or just looking for something low-key (both of which I can be fairly accused of), mining may just fit the bill. Different strokes for different folks, right?

Good on you for getting through it!

and thats why player trades would be amazign, miners mine and sell to pew pewers who might sell other stuff to miners. But so far, blaze the rails FD has set up because ther eis only that ONE way to get to this or that engineer and no other.

Well that was fun. 7 hours of mining to finish the 500t for Selene (had 200t to finish off). Then another 2 hours and 140 protector limpets to find the 10t of Painite.
Never, ever going to mine again.
Hint for anyone still needing to unlock that particular engineer.....only mine Pristine Metallic Rings. At least you'll have a chance of getting the Painite while getting the 500t.
I know how you feel. That was a mind-numbing experience, and I quickly decided that I’d never mine again...until I figured out that I needed Bromellite for Turner.

I still don’t see how mining could be confused with fun. You just sit there with your finger on the trigger until the rock’s empty, then repeat with the next one. It’s agonizing.

I am also trying to unlock that engineer but I don't have the patience to wait for my turtle drones to collect the fragments, I will normaly lose my mind after mining around 80 tones, seriously even WITH 10 DAMN DRONES they are still too slow to keep up with my 2 medium mining lasers forcing me to wait at least 2 mins before changing asteroid.

The only funny part here are pirate NPCs but they are so rare and when they dare to scan well they don't end up well ^_^ with my A-Rank Engineered(2.4) Type 10.

Mining isn't forced, it's your choice. If you want things that require mining again it's your choice. Otherwise the same argument could be applied to combat, to well any aspect of the game. We choose to do things or we choose not to. No one is being forced to do anything. It's a absurd way of thinking.

While you're right about it being a choice, that doesn't make it any less of a terrible experience in order to achieve something we want in the game. Obviously no one is being forced in the purest sense of the word. We are engaging in a game mechanic that Frontier chose to implement in this fashion and a lot of us do not find it engaging or interesting or fun. To us FD sure has an absurd way of thinking.

That's the reason we have various engineer requirements. Some require trading, some mining, some exploring, some bounty hunting, some BGS work, some conflict work.

The whole point, as far as I can tell, was to expose players to various parts of the game that they might have otherwise not explored. No one is saying you have to like it. If you knock out the requirement and it's not for you, then you've knocked out the requirement and can move on.

Pretty much the same as a CZ in a 'Vette.

But at least the Corvette in a CZ is the right ship. However, mining is unlike combat in that using a substandard ship doesn't make it more exciting. I suspect you are not using an optimised mining ship - correction, I'm certain of it.

Mainly because I don’t give a crap about mining. I’ve long since sold my mining lasers and refinery.

Outfit the right ship.
Make sure you have a thermos of hot coffee and a full pack of smokes.
Decorate computer desk with girlie magazines, half-eaten store-bought danish, and empty fast food containers.
Put your favorite hat on (anything from a cowby hat, to a wool beanie, to a John Deere cap will do).
Start a-minin'.
