First exploration

I'm docked at Swift Outpost, parked up for the night, ready to start my journey.
I wouldn't have got this far without all of you amazing Cmdrs on this thread so thanks to you all.

Big day tomorrow as I set off to explore the galaxy.

Thank you once again my fellow Cmdrs, I'll see you tomorrow o7

Sorry if I mislead.
It's not about getting loads more money anymore, I just want to do something with a purpose/end goal/achievement.
Exactly. It's not about money.

Stay safe out there, cmndr.

Did I miss something? One focuses on exploration for one day, and there are 3 pages of new posts here... So is our chicken ready yet? :D Just kidding... ;)

Before you go, I would strongly suggest you do one more step: install and setup additional onboard AI assistants

  1. Elite Observatory
  2. Elite ... dang, I forgot the name of the other tool and I'm not in my exploratory vessel now... Anyway, there are 2 most essential tools for explorer and EO is the most important, the other one is giving you a lot of other tools you may need, including a trip planner, EDSM and EDDB syncing etc...
If you want a bit more immersive experience, also get the voice attack and HCS voice pack, I specifically recommend Orion and Ad-astra (you will need a microphone to be able to talk to your ship and give commands).

Now that you are on your way, we can only give you hints and suggestions as you are the master of your own destiny.
May I give you my travel strategy: I find a point in the direction that I am going at about 1k ly. I then plot a route to it using only scoopable stars but NOT M class. using the route line as a guide,l I will look to the left and right of that line in search of neutron stars. I am then free to deviate to the neutron and continue on my designated path. I actually use book marks to plot my advance choices. one that I use consistently is a half way house to Colonia: ROHINI. it is a very good jump off to either Colonia or to Sag A. just a suggestion... no arm twist involved. Do you plan to keep a record of your travels and systems explored?

Yes the chick is ready to fledge... under a lot of pressure from watchful hens here in the henhouse.....and I must say.... very proud hens. He may not have everything that he needs this time but then again... any chick that has gone out for the first time forgets something.... I forgot a DSS.

Thank you for the suggestions but I am on Xbox and unfortunately don't have access to a pc ☹️

Well, actually yesterday it was exactly one year, since the esteemed creator of Elite Observatory @Vithigar added support for Companion link, which allows even the console players to use Elite Observatory. How exactly does it work is pure sorcery for me, so do not even try asking me how to set it up, I just happen to know, that it provides ate least some sort of support to console players...

I believe, judging from what I have read on the internet,, that it does not offer instant notifications, but even if it allows you to get a daily summary of interesting stuff you have stumbled upon and allows you to travel back and investigate more, it is still worth it...

Imagine if you have travelled across a system with a record breaking body and you wouldn't know that, just to find out when someone else makes the headlines... :)

That's excellent, thank you.
I'll go and check it out

I kinda assumed, that you have some device the companion link can run on... I thought by "I have no PC" you meant no gaming PC... If there is no way for you to run companion app, then I guess the pen and paper is your only option... :)

do you have a printer or access to a printer? this is what I use
how it works: planetary system is the star system you have scanned
1st discovery yes or no... if no one has claimed it is is your first discovery.
prevalue is the value of the star or planet according to the right hand list. example: O class star = 1617
total value is the total number of the items scanned: example: 3 t-t tauri class stars = 2402
running value lets you keep tab of how many credits you may get on return for dispersment.
the right hand side has 2 sets... one set is AD (after discovery) this means someone already has their name on it.
then further down there is a series of first discovery values... much higher monetary values.
while exceedingly rare.. terres rocky body does exist(terreformable)
terrest means terraformable body
any questions let me knows..... better than drawing lines and trying to figure out you got on hand.
