First mapped by.... A console player!

Well, any individual player's chances of mapping any specific notable system are pretty low. So expect to go map something else instead.

I didn't have access to my PC until 10:30 last night, then spent half an hour trying to log on. I'd been camped out at Betelgeuse, when I finally got on, everything there had been mapped. Checked out Mintaka, also mapped. Started heading towards the Orion Nebula, called in at the system containing the Witch Head Science Station asteroid base, and most of the system hadn't yet been mapped. Got busy, mapped everything (discovered a lot of biological POI's), handed it all in, discovered that several planets had been tagged by then, but I still got the rest.

So now I'd be pretty peeved if there was a reset, at least I tagged multiple bodies in a notable system. I didn't get Betelgeuse or Mintaka, but so what? Plenty more out there.

Just find something else to map, if it bothers you that much!

I'm more disappointed that my Codex is void of any of my previous data.

None of my discoveries over the past four years have been put into the Codex, not even from a couple of month ago.

I thought that in one of the Livestreams, Adam said that our previous discoveries would be in the Codex, he couldn't tell us how far back it would go though......looks like it only went back to yesterday.

And I bet they will disappear from the game. And you will have to do it again.

Wow! So much salt from us PC players :)

I did get on with a stable connection just after 11pm GMT for an hour last night, got to my destination and had a little 'explore', having a whale of a time, no griping from me! (No, I wasn't 'camped' near a 'valuable' system/body)

I'm afraid I sort of agree with the overall sentiment that the PC crowd got to 'discover' everything first, why shouldn't our console colleagues not grab the opportunity to make their mark when it presents itself?

Let's hope that C4 marks a 'new' era of exploration where everyone can have a great time finding their 'firsts' in the huge playground we all have [yesnod]

I didn't need a transfer. You probably have been to busy dismissing my posts to realise I've been playing Elite Dangerous since the alpha, which as you'll recall, was Windows only. I only have one account by the way :)

I dont have anything personal with you, if thats your impression. I just dont like the company's entire policy, so its very difficult to change my mind about Macs. Since this is the case, i apologise if i sounded personal to you, and i will tone down my writing style next time.
I however dont know details about your crusade and whos fault is it, between the two companies, for dropping support in this game. For gaming i would still suggest a pc. A suggestion that does not offer perfection ofc, but is pretty much a nice and powerfull experience nowdays in gaming. If you allready have a pc for gaming or a console, then all is good.

EDIT: You have one account, so it is a windows account from what you are saying. So whats the problem??

Reading some of the salt from some of the PC players in this thread, complaining about not getting bragging rights, is making me feel ashamed to be a PC player; suck it up it is just a game. Let's all concentrate on the real issues of this patch eh guys.

NEVER said FIRST dibs - said "EQUAL CHANCES"

Way to go twisting peoples words to fit your argument, not helping your side give a reasonable reason why consoles should have "first dibs".

(Mods feel free to amalgamate my replies into one)

I wish the launch on console was smooth, but it wasn't. I play on the xbox one x and i kept disconnecting and then when trying to log back in got the error message "unable to receive commander data". the short time I was able to get in a PC player already managed to claim a planet in Diaguandri. (6 min after the launch of the Q4 update). I ended up jumping on a different game to give the servers time to stabilize. So I guess console and PC had "EQUAL CHANCES

Yeah, to be serious for a bit. PS4 Had some shenanigans going on. I was lucky, friends, not so much. Not sure where this came from to be honest. Its not like their are no PC Players that got in either.

I was getting my name on planets that I never expected to be mappable in the first place. I'll be interested to see if I get to keep those tags, or if everything will be wiped when I log in this morning...

As a PC player I looked at the forums last night and watched TV instead of bothering to start the game up.

I can wait a little while before going to pee on a rock to mark it as my territory.

Pretty much the same here only Im an xb1x player...little to no point in even attempting to play until at least a few days have passed to let things settle. Ive waited over a year fer them to fix some console specific bugs, few more days aint gonna make much difference.

Read through the thread a bit, got a few giggles reading some the posts but by and large its just a petty and pretty sad argument made by petty and sad gamers who just take the game a bit too seriously. Cost of the platform isnt relevant at all because the game costs the same on all platforms whether it cost a hundred quid or 3 grand...an account still costs the same...so really, this is just snobbish entitlement.

If the shoe was on the other foot and console players got the rough end of the deal...like they have done since the game launched...I highly doubt the pc master race would so much as blink. Ive blinked a few times though so there is that.

Cool to see the thread still open...if console players were getting the rough end of the deal, the thread would have been moved to a sub graveyard or just locked...out of sight out of mind after all...seen it all before which is why instead of sympathy, all I feel is bemusement at the current situation.

Anyways...Im off to play the best game of 2018 while things settle down. That would be RDR2...also not available on pc which is good imo...nowhere near as much salt on the forums without them moaning and whinging all the time ^

This reminds me of a thread posted years ago in the Xbox forum, where a PC player was angry that Kickstarter money was used to help release Horizons on Xbox (his words, not mine). I was tempted to suggest us console players sending him a fee every time we landed on a planet.

As for the launch, I was chill about it. 3.3 is the biggest update since launch so I didn't expect things to go smoothly. Fortunately there was football on and after that, I was able to log in and enjoy native 4K next-gen mining on my One X from about 11pm last night.

The problem still is that Frontier created a client that they ill supported and then dropped.

I can continue to play, as I started, using Windows as a dongle via a BootCamp partition, on the Mac computer that can't play games (as I've been repeatedly told).

You are well aware that the issue is due to the lack of software implementation on the Mac OS side, not hardware related. Also, this is off topic.

Back on topic everyone, and play the ball, not the player. No console vs PC wars either please.

I think theres a bug going around with fhings being first discovered that shouldnt be.

Oh. My. God!

As a PC player I take great offense at the accusations of maturity! This is stereotyping of the worst kind. To all who engage in these prejudices I say:
