Unless your name is Alex...to the point you don't even need to put the headset on to feel bad... and here Ludwig van never did anything to anybody.

I'm green with envy right now! Those are awesome and worthy of a big double exclamation mark ‼Welcome to VR OP ! - check out some of my vids to see the possibilites (oh, and I never feel sick - )

Wasn't me who built it, the quote's gone wrong somewhere along the lines.Holy smokes! That is pretty incredible for something built in your spare time! Overachiever!
I can't decide if my favorite part is you drinking a beer on a motion simulator, or that you have a Cray II supercomputer behind a red tarp with a handwritten TOP SECRET sign in your garage! Good stuff.
We've talked before but your setup really is something @blastard o7I have, several in fact (check the vids in my sig). Movement when in VR was the next logical step for better immersion.
I now run a Pimax VR headset in wide-angle and have the motion rig finely tuned to ED. The experience is immense - everytime.

I just got back from a Rocket Tea run myself. and could not help but constantly think, "This will be a really wild ride in VR!!" This time out I had quite a few of those huge oblong fast rotators that have 4 or 5 rich SSD veins that are a beyotch to mine, but also fun, as you have to dodge the projections that protect the SSD veins as they swoop around to clobber your ship. My Miner'Vette has good hull specs but is a little undershielded , so one good hit can put a serious dent in the bi-weaves! My directional thrusters are alwaysThere is still nothing quite so impressive as mining a rock in very close proximity to a rotating 'roid... The feeling of jeopardy is almost tangible![]()
A good friend of mine used to mine in an unshielded Cutter (I did warn him) back in the Void Opal glory days... Until he was clobbered by a huge 'roid that was closer than he thought... He had 300+ tons mined at the time!I just got back from a Rocket Tea run myself. and could not help but constantly think, "This will be a really wild ride in VR!!" in play, so I think it will be both a blessing and a curse to be able to look around and see what normally is out of my view in pancake land. A lot of "Holy s*** " moments no doubt. The ring I was mining was not particulalry dense, though, the wildest ride will be in the really crowded rings, where dodging 'roids is as critical as popping minerals.
I liked my Miner'thon a lot but for one characteristic -- the dang canopy icing up inside an icy core! I cherish visibiiity and that was just the pits. I mean, in 3306 they haven't heard of defrosters?I use a Python (with prismatics) for mining - just because by the time it is full with 190 tons I'm ready to return to the carrier, and it is quite nimble with fully engineered drives![]()
A thousand times yes.Another advantage of VR - well possibly, I've not actually tried it. Move the headset to the side, reset viewpoint, then put it back on. Sure, the console won't line up, and you'll have your headless body next to you, but you'll be out of the way of that damned FDL canopy strut.
You're blessed with obliviousness, don't go searching for what's wrong with 30fps, you're better off, trust meWhats all this about frame rates affecting VR etc? I run all my games at 30 fps and can't tell the difference if I run them at 30, 60, 120, 144 etc so I don't bother and just have everything on max setting.
Tried my daughters Rift S and smooth as silk with no issues at all... admittedly I have great 'sea legs' and spent lots of time in simulators when in the force though...
As I understand it, higher framerate improves the overall perception of almost all of a game's visual aspects, though for some aspects and players it may be somewhat less than noticeable. The principal aspect, though, is when rapid movement occurs, either from game assets moving or player view motion. There is a visual phenomenon called strobing that can occur at lower frame rates that can be less than pleasant to experience. Live action movies and such that run at 24 - 30 fps tend to not show strobing because of motion blur, which is how we usually perceive fast motion IRL. But CGI-generated motion blur is either too expensive performance-wise (for naturalistic blur) or really ugly (the kind some games currently attempt). It's been improving but not quite fully realized yet. Having more frames per second in the perceptual stream prevents strobing without resorting to clunky fake motion blur techniques.Whats all this about frame rates affecting VR etc?
I notice it bit Im so used to playing games at 10 FPS I just dont mind.I guess I'm wired a bit differently then as I don't notice much/if any difference when running stuff at higher FPS. That's mainly the reason why I don't bother, even in fast twitch based games like CS:GO and such. Ah well I'll count myself lucky that I don't have these issue that other are getting![]()
There's no coming back... no way out of this tunnel CMDR. Once you try VR you can't play pancake anymore. Same for any other game. I also play flight simulator and now that Microsoft released the VR version I can't play it on screen anymore. It's now legitimately hard to imagine playing it any other way.
