I normally don't rant about so futile things, but when NPCs start to bait you into shooting clean ships, the fun stops.
The AI has no concept of context, no concept of cunning, is unable to reason or judge. It flies within pre-determined parameters, only; nor can it be creative, such as using other ships as a meat shield.
The universe is chock full of people; life is not considered as valuable then, as it is now. Life can be short and very brutal. We know this, because for wanted ships it's typically very short and very brutal. We have no compunction about blasting endless ships because they are wanted. Do you know
why that AI was wanted? What if it was, for example, because it accidentally also shot a cop? Let's assume, for a moment, that that could be a cause. They made a mistake. Would you be so quick to despatch it, regardless? Would you salute (o7 o7) the AI and bid it good day? Give it a break because it made a mistake?
Of course you would.
Not. It's criminal scum, and you absolutely will claim it's bounty with extreme prejudice. Here's the thing; this is always fine until you're on the
other end of the law. Then it's not. Funny that. I expect the karma system to end up exactly the same. It's fine until you're on the receiving end. Then suddenly? "It's so unfair!!!1".
