Fix this game that you sold me Frontier!!!!!!!!!!

It would be nice if you would fix this game that you sold.

I am tired of going to the Mission Board and getting the failed to communicate with sever error message.

This has been a regular occurrence for two weeks.

Since I never have a problem accessing the galaxy and system maps the problem sure is not on my end, it is on you end, so fix it already!!!!!

They need to stop with new features and fix what they have. It is better to add new features to a stable platform then fix bugs then heaping them on a bug ridden platform that adds new bugs and makes existing ones worse

This game is perfect in every way... you have no right to critique anything... this game isn't for you... this game is perfect, perfect in every way... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

broken game mechanics are working precisely as intended... perfect, perfect in every way ...

You win this thread's hyperbole award. :p

The specific problem this thread talks about, is more a server problem than the actual client/game — Which I agree with. Servers have been running slow a lot lately. (I was personally stuck in an infinite spinning ship when swapping ships earlier)
I'm all for pointing fingers at problems. But pointing at the wrong problems is just outright silly.

That's not how it works. You'd have tons of bugs no matter how you approach it! It's the nature of a complicated beast like this. You don't code, right?

If only that's how it worked.

In reality when you fix bugs, you just make more other places. Using your method zero new features would ever get added.

There are maybe three people on the forums who say that. The rest just have the audacity to either disagree with another player's opinion, or to offer advice to a player facing a particular problem and insisting the game is broken when the problem is really that they either have't grasped how to perform a particular task, or just don't want to do it because reasons.

In this instance OP is correct. I don't get a complete failure to communicate as often as his post suggests he does but they do happen and even at the best of times the waiting times to grab mission info from the servers are longer than I would expect.

Let me know if you want me to come back and post some stuff about how everything is perfect.

Edit:

Stop! There are no bugs to be fixed! Everything is fine the game

Oh dear. Grow up.

I'll take the current known bugs vs. unknown bugs created when they "fix" something.

Network code is something someone really should work harder on - why is sending/receiving data so unreliable/slow in anything? Trying to be too clever with bandwidth management is part of the problem, IMHO.

And I just get dumped off the ED server...at least youtube is still working :)

As a programmer (and long-ago game developer) I can indeed confirm that's how it works in real life (unfortunately). For every code change, there's a risk of introducing a new defect (sometimes several). It gets worse for large, complicated code-bases (like ED). I speak from experience; I don't think I could correctly estimate the number of source files for my project to the nearest 10,000 files (seriously). I digress: Some of the earliest source files were created back in 1985, ported to C, from the original Apple ][ Basic code (again, seriously - it's a royal pain; some the variable names are still using the original single-letter or letter-followed-by-a-single-digit, which was the naming restriction in Basic).

I would hope that FD works much like the "agile" team I work on. We're on a 2-week cycle called a "sprint" and we schedule time for fixing some of "the worst" defects first and then we fill the remaining time with new features. If you read the change logs for the 2.2 beta releases, you will see that FD does indeed fix a lot of defects in every release.

I had no issues for about a year and then when I got Horizons I started getting transaction errors. A lot of transaction errors. The game would dump me at the menu coming out of a hyperspace jump about 30-40% of the time.
Any time the game tried to get info from the server I'd just sit there waiting for the disconnect. It almost never happened with 1.5, and it felt like it almost always happened with 2.0. The game was unplayable, I was getting frustrated and even angry, and I love Elite more than the little Sidewinder in the mods' sigs.

I ended up narrowing it down to a DNS problem. Unfortunately, in the router I had the DNS couldn't be changed. (I couldn't change the MTU value either).
I contacted my ISP and they sent me a new, better router. This was about three months ago and I can't remember a disconnect happening in all the time since.

So don't be too quick to assume you know where the problem lies, it really may be at your end. Especially if It's just you.

i'm blaming beta lol, i don't have access, but maybe thats the cause of all the server fudge. I too have mission board slow or disconnection.
