Fix this old bug. Cannot select anything on left side panel after getting back in ship.

Tried to do a bug report but selecting new thread drew a blank page every single time despite loading it fully.

This bug when exploring planet surfaces occurs constantly. It breaks mission immersion and general post surface exploration. Every single time I re-enter my ship the highlighter from the left side panel is lost and I cannot switch tabs, thus navigation is impossible and a restart is forced.

This has been on the go for a very long time, FD. Please fix it. Surely you have encountered this yourself if you play the game, too.

Redirect this as necessary or just pass this information onto the devs and spare me duplicating this with a bug report post when it decides to work again.

I've seen it on PC.

In the SRV, the last menu item changes from System Map to Surface Map. If you leave the cursor on that item and board the ship, the left menu becomes unresponsive - because the cursor has gone AWOL.

Have you tried moving the cursor back to the Galaxy Map option before boarding the ship?

Gimme a moment, I'm gonna go dig up the bug report I put in about this very issue...and it definitely happens, or has happened on PC, and is to an extent replicable. Has something to do with spending an extended period of time in an SRV with a ship dismissed, I think.

I'd try to finagle with your browser to make the bug report thing work for you, and make sure to link that bug report (and any other similar ones) in it.

p.s. Someone can tell QA-Mitch that logging in/out does fix it, somehow I never noticed his reply. Might've been because it was just before I found out about the XP splitting thing and quit playing, I dunno.

I've spent hours in an SRV with the ship dismissed and not seen it. Whenever I have, it's been after I brought up the surface map.

I'd test it, but my current ship doesn't have an SRV.

This happened to me on PC just 2 days ago. Now, I did check out the surface map while I was in the srv. However, I've done so in the past, too, and this was the first time that I could not use the left panel once I reboarded my ship. It was totally annoying, as I had to relog while in space for the left panel to be functional again.

So, this bug does not happen all of the time, apparently, but it does happen.

Edit to add: I often spend a couple of hours in the SRV, and I've often checked the surface map without issue until now. The only thing different 2 days ago, was I decided I didn't want to spend a lot of time on the surface this time around, and left after 45 minutes to an hour. So, various scenarios to try and pin down.

This happens to me about 50% of the times I use the SRV, and I never use the surface map. But I do use the left hand panel while in the SRV, so maybe the cursor is sitting on the Surface Map option.

I'll raise a fresh bug report later today when I have time.

Happens to me quite often yeah.

Really annoying to have to log out and back in, and also made me look like a combat logger one time, as I knew someone was moving in to interdict me, but I wanted to be able to target a nearby system to jump to, in case it didn't go well. When logged back in, they weren't in the instance :(

Happened to me yesterday. Was on surface doing a disable powergrid mission and gathering materials and picked up some canisters and an escape pod, transfered cargo to ship went searching for more materials. Checked surface map too. Finished on planet i went to nearby space station completed mission, sold cargo, handed in escape pod then switched to my fdl to do the community goal. went to check the left panel for res sites and the panel wasnt working.

Haven't had this crap happen to me in a long time, but then again I don't visit planets that often nowadays. The only "solution" when I suffered it, regularly, on PC, was to redeploy the SRV and get back into the ship immediately.

Happens to me, too, from time to time. Though I haven't figured out exactly what causes it to happen. Maybe that is why it's not fixed yet. Just some obscure glitch buried deep in the code on some meta layer where functionalities collide under certain arcane conditions. Sometimes coding is more like spellcraft.

To be fair, intermittent bugs are a nightmare for ANYONE to fix.
Many's the time I have a bug report land on my desk reading "software crashes randomly" and I've shrugged and filed it under 'Monitoring' because there's nothing else I can do.

I've seen this bug, once. I exited the game and restarted it. It's never reoccurred.

At the time, I thought it might be related to VoiceAttack. OP, do you use VA?
