Fleet Carrier FAQ

What happens when your "stored ship icon" is staying at the last system your FC was?
You will after a relog spawn in your ship at that location and your FC is 1.5 kylies away! (as I noticed it first after 3 jumps)
Luckily my internal Tritium logistics Cutter has a scoop ;)

Care to elaborate on that?

If this is what I fear it sounds like, this would be bad. Very bad.

Of course :)
We look at it step by step...
1st step: have ~5 beers! :D

Serious...
I noticed the white icon in the galaxy map wasn't "moving" with the FC, but stayed at a system I traveled through...
Made the carrier jump two more, which wasn't a problem.
But I also noticed that the distance to my destination didn't get less (in the FC gal map) but was the same, 1500ly+, exactly that three jumps the carrier made "without its docked ships"...
Got terrified and logged out (with a connection error. unfortunately I can't remember which color that adder had, cause, step 1 ;))
After relog I was in my ship, not docked, but in space in exactly that system with the ship icon...
Carrier was 3 jumps away.

Worst case, you are sitting in your T9 tank without scoop, and the FC just drained its tank, you need someone to donate some Tr ;)

My carrier is in an admin system (Borr) but I cannot add services.
I have tried been on the carrier, off the carrier, in a different system to the carrier.
what am I doing wrong?

edit
so apparently my carrier was too far away from the station. after i jumped closer it worked fine, not sure if this was a bug

Probably not deposit any money in the carrier bank account, I know I did that at first :)

You can transfer goods to & from your carrier via a new button on your ship's Inventory page (you can't do this via the carrier page). If the button is disabled then going into Filters and switching a filter on & off will usually re-enable it.

Added the Bold sentence as I've had that happen a lot recently.

Quick question I can't seem to find in FAQ or general search. How do commodities, fuel, arms, ships, modules, etc. restock?

I understand you need the appropriate service. However, do you have to initially spend credits to buy stock and then draw down from your fleet bank (with option to auto restock)? Or are you an agent that offers items and just takes a commission, never having actually purchased. Maybe it's different for limpets, fuel vs ships and modules. And does stock count against the total cargo? Seems like stocking ships would not be cost effective in that case.

Clearly if the owner has to put credits up front, that limits the stock they can afford to offer. If just an seller's agent, then what prevents someone from offering every ship/module in the game?

Thnx!

Ok, it's late and maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find any info on how to transfer my ships to an FC.... I don't see this covered in the faq here or in Frontier's.

Most people spot the "shipyard" button pretty fast :) and if they play the game at all then transfer is pretty well understood 🤷‍♀️

Edit: ofc if it's not your FC then it may not have a shipyard...

You need to dock at the carrier and use the shipyard to transfer your ship(s)
If it's not your own FC a shipyard module has to be installed by the owner. :)

Ah, thanks, I was hoping that was the case. Is there a charge like regular ship transfers, if it's your own FC?

I bet you cool kids all knew this - when using the Transfer button in Inventory to transfer stuff (slowly) to your ship you can hit 'select' on the item to move focus to 'Confirm'. Saves you having to scroll down to hit Confirm which is handy when you stock a few different items. A few less keystrokes per run :)

The answer to this question is yes, visitors DO get to hear custom ATC voices. I finally found one.

Now for a new question - what happens if I die out in the middle of nowhere and the carrier was my last place of docking (and it is still close by), but it does NOT have a shipyard. Will I still spawn there if I accept the rebuy? I'm hitching a ride to Colonia in a shieldless ship, in Open, and I'm hoping not to get sent to some outpost thousands of lightyears away should an accident happen.
Happend to me in beta - last docking station was carrier, i died, in respawn acreen i choose to rebuy my ship - boom ended up 3kly from the bubble :D Apparently carrier went on a small trip. Idk if carrier had shiyard.

Was the carrier the closets "station" around at the time? Or did it actually take you out out of the Bubble on respawn?

FYI: Fuel usage per jump: Y=a*M*L+ b*L+C
M=mass/capacity
L=jump distance

a= 1/10000
b= 1/4
c= 10
So having 26000t (tritium in depot doesnt contribute to M) and 784t in ship its around 70,4k Ly range
