Fleet Carrier FAQ

So how about the rebuy options? If I die in deep space will I respawn on my carrier? I asked on steam forums but no one provided a solid answer.

Inara importing of data is down for the last few days so probably wont be upto date

I am looking for tritium howeve at higher than market price
Data stream to inara seems to be up and running

That's what some people said on steam "during BETA" any players tried it now? I'm really far away to try it myself now..

Was bored of waiting for the answer, yes you do respawn on carrier. Good news for explorer looking to stay out in deep space for years.

Fdev Official Fleet Carrier FAQ

Buying a Carrier

You can buy FC in these locations - the vendor is under Contacts. These are all now in Inara https://inara.cz/galaxy-nearest/28/367/0/

Modifying / Administering your Carrier

You can modify them in Vendor systems ^^^ OR Admin systems - again check Inara : https://inara.cz/galaxy-nearest/32/367/0/

Where to get Fuel (Tritium)

Buy Tritium from Orbital Refineries - Inara has them https://inara.cz/galaxy-commodity/10269/ - look for Best Buys - probably don't trust other carriers. Prices from stations can be as low as 4k per ton :)

Transferring Cargo to the Carrier

You can transfer goods to & from your carrier via a new button on your ship's Inventory page (you can't do this via the carrier page). If the button is disabled then going into Filters and switching a filter on & off will usually re-enable it.

Getting Tritium From Your Hold to the Depot

Use the Inventory transfer (see above) to transfer it back to your ship, then use the 'Donate' button inside the Tritium Depot (so no, you cannot remotely refuel).

Route Plotting

spansh has a route plotter, alternately you can plot a route on your ship (while docked on the FC) out towards where you want to go, then get the carrier to follow once you hit 500 Ly.

Storage
  • Ship you stock in your shipyard will take up storage space
  • Same with modules
  • Ship you (or others) store in your carrier do not take up space
  • If you sell ships they do not appear for sale in your shipyard
  • Cargo in your carrier will affect your fuel use when jumping
  • ... but cargo in ships does not
  • You can only stock one Tier from a type of modules in outfitting (so Tier 1 or Tier 2 or Tier3)

That's the ones I can think that have caught a lot out - enjoy the FC!
Can we have an option to disable the carrier's honk? The jump sound by itself is super awesome. That honk just detracts.

Q: If I'm based in my carrier and I fly my scout into a star, do I get to come back in the carrier? With the scout. Lazy question, but I assume it's the same rules as per having been docked at a station ... but I don't know.

Ninja'd - and answered. Yes. (I hope)

Upgrading Tip :
Park up in an FC Admin system, near an engineer, to upgrade any (or all) ships in the carrier.
Install the Outfitting service and buy the appropriate Service and module pack.
Go into each ship and buy the required item for each (A-class or whatever).
Rinse to get them all upgraded. Return each module pack and get the next if required). Pay for the ones you've bought.
Sell back Service.
Take all ships that need experimental to Engineer and pin blueprint.
Upgrade other ships 'in carrier' with remote workshop.

I reckon this is the easiest (and completely legal) way to upgrade a slew of ships 'at once'. You need a lot of buffer cash, but you get it all back when you're done.
Saved me a lot of faffing about getting A-rated PD's engineered for a mixed fleet of 6.

Q: Whilst fuel and re-arm are provided in the default Outfitting service, am I correct in thinking that Scarab and fighters require the full service and modules?

UC Question (curiosity as I'll be able to find out soon ...) :
Does the 'distance from system' apply with FC's when selling data to them?
i.e. Do I have to jump the FC before I can sell it data gathered from <20ly from it's current position?

SRVs itself (not the hangar) can be restocked with the Armoury module AFAIK. Not sure about fighters...

No, you can sell all :)

I read through this and didn't see if this was outrightly answered but can you program the jump of a FC with your ship if it's in a different system?
In otherwords, if I am mining in System X and the FC is in System Y, can I use my ship in System X to plot the FC to jump to a different System?

Edit: Found the answer, not as obvious as it may seem. I did not know that you had fleet carrier management access from the right control panel on the Home screen. This is not evident and was easily overlooked. Never would have thought to look there intially.

I've put occupied escape pods up as a commodity to sell. 150 in inventory but, they don't show up in commodity window. ¯\(ツ)

lol how cruel can you get?

I want to know how some carriers are parked away from planets and into the rings while it seems I always end up at the close planetary orbit, which obviously creates more wait time for escaping gravitational pull.

I wanted to ask if someone knows anything about INARA/EDSM fixing the fleet carrier ID bug? Since the latest update changed them, my EDSM profile still thinks that the ID is the old one and won't update the current carrier position. INARA also lists the old ID.

Will it be fixed soon?

I was a bit concerned about the Tritium HS's in the black - I've only mined a double before and had no idea what to expect.
Small sample - 1 500ly jump at random, 12 systems mapped (not thoroughly) : 1m UC credits, 6xTri HS, 8xLTD HS and 3 VO HS (no overlaps). (Scouting session)
Mining a single Tritium HS got me 17 VO (core), 2 LTDs(mined) and 300 Tritium (SS and mined) in a couple of hours. (Mining session)
That'll cover my costs, and has been a pleasurable (and varied) experience.

If there will be an update for your carrier received, containing the marketID (for example a market data update via EDDN or journal import via "Import Frontier data" feature where was the carrier stats screen opened), it will get updated on Inara. Until such update is received, Inara don't know how to reliably rename your carrier (and what's the new callsign). :)
