Well that's kind of stupid.FD say that carriers are indestructible and I haven't seen anyone say they've destroyed one.
I did try... In my FDL... Well ex-FDL, reallyFD say that carriers are indestructible and I haven't seen anyone say they've destroyed one.
That being said, carriers do not take anything away from the game, they just add options to those that want to use them. So it's all positives without negatives.. Ofc people that can't afford them will cry since they can't get them for free and have to actually put some work in.
That by definition is not a fail, let alone an epic one. How about you don't use them and continue to live your life?
Give them some sort of "boss fight" mechanic with timed phases that results in a rout if all are beaten? You kind of raise an interesting point.
If FCs were destructible. How destructrable should they be? How long should it take to take one down?
If its an hour sitting there holding the firing button, its not very engaging. But if its relatively quick, it gives nobody any time to respond.

For comparison capital ships are indestructible too but do sustain hull damage if they take enough fire and are routed if they fall under 20%.
Why have a whole squad tied up with one carrier when they can have one each, and a super paint job and wing kit to die for can be purchased for every player in the squad not just one... oh lovely money, yes sir, I love money.Indestructible
Hello commanders now mind you this is only my opinion. As I see it fleet carriers are only a time and credit sink they hold no real value in game. Now there are many players that will disagree with me and that is fine but that dose not change the fact that fleet carriers being indestructible is not only a imbalance in the game but a big wast of time. There is no real strategic value to them there was a no true emergent gameplay value to them. They are only a Vanity item for those who grind and grind and grind like mad men. If Frontier wanted to add something special and dynamic they should have made them be able to sustain damage. At the very least be able to drive the management or up keep cost up. But once again frontier has shown that they develop elite dangerous for solo and other players.
Well rant over that is all I have to say. Fly Strong Commanders.
Vicktore Beskor drops the mike
Well organized greifers are going to have a ball!
Fleet carriers are a epic fail in one word
I don't see it being practical in the first place because carriers would get attacked without just cause all the time simply because people are thirsty for targets, and people will game the system while they're at it so there'd already be a step by step guide on day one. I'm more considering what the possible options are, since in order for any implementation to be "fair" it would have to be indirect to accommodate the limitations of game modes and instancing, and also very slow so people can actually react. And then what? Was is the cost to the owner?
Where is the risk to the attacker? (bearing in mind people will find a way to make it easy).
Its ok against PvE targets, but against player targets?
Well, for one they have 20 gun turrets on em (shoot em first) ; and depending where they are (low-high sec systems) they've got backups from the local authority ships.Where is the risk to the attacker? (bearing in mind people will find a way to make it easy).
Maybe by the time you get back they'll have the bugs worked out.Only reason I'm sad is because I'm out in deep deep space for over a year and cant get one lol...Payday should be nice though when I do arrive back in the bubble just before space legs drop.
