ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers - Content Reveal Announcement

Your comment is arrogant and full of stuff that basically proves you didn't even read through my post. And your... accusations are basically insulting to me as a player with around 1800 hours on the clock with every single activity done there and by - but doing bounty hunting and assassinations mostly and "just recently" reaching Elite since I started back in 2017.

I am so sorry (it's sarcasm, if you cannon notice it) that Squadron having mercenaries, bounty hunters and privateers who act as the military force (we don't do much mining or high-paying passanger missions) may feel left out from possession of Fleet Carrier, ESPECIALLY if Frontier pointed out there will be a Fleet Carrier tailored towards bounty hunters. That suggested these would be affordable for them, as bounty hunting and mercenary job isn't the most lucrative activity in Elite Dangerous - from the mathematical point of view coming from the game mechanics. We can easily push 5 billion credits as a Squadron given every single of us has the spare change as we fly ships we mastered and there are tens of millions gathering day by day. As separate players? Just impossible with the pace we had been doing with focus on fun and roleplay.

Taking into consideration what I wrote in the previous paragraph, to the players who actually had been playing the game and picked combat as their main activity and fun factor - the Fleet Carrier pricetag is just insulting and standing in contradiction with initial suggestions coming from the presentations of that idea.

Also, you blamed me for screaming "it's not about credit grinding", yet you excused having a lot of credits as "game mastering". I will leave this one without any commentary, as it comments itself pretty well.
So, then what? You're upset because you assumed that because a Fleet Carrier could be tailored towards bounty hunters that this meant it would be "affordable for them"? That's on you, man. Don't confuse knowledge with arrogance - I know many methods for making a lot of money and having fun while doing it, it took training, specific outfitting and credits to do it, and it's not some sure-fire get-rich-quick scheme where I don't have any risks and don't ever waste an entire session finding a new location to operate out of, or get bored three days into a sight-seeing mission to some nebula halfway across the galaxy.

I just find it strange that you find it strange that the more difficult, skilled, or dry/dull/boring repetitive jobs make more money than blasting your way through one bounty at a time. As a DPS game, that would basically relegate potential earnings to the money you put into your DPS, in that as soon as you'd leverage the highest DPS you can get in the game, you could just blast towards infinite credit income. I am personally pleased that the lives of a spattering of bounty targets are never anywhere near the value of a cargo hold full of 128 Void Opals or LT Diamonds (or a week of exploration data with a few passenger contracts). But hey, to each his own, right? Oh wait, you want to insult and repudiate those of us who make more money than you while doing different non-comparable activities in the game... I almost forgot.

I'll "excuse" having a lot of credits as a part of mastering the game with extreme confidence when faced with those who have floundered their time never finding a lucrative route to their goals, in whatever path they choose. Was stated before, you like bounty hunting? If you're not making enough money, you're not pursuing the most lucrative opportunities in that branch - Wing Assassinations beyond your abilities or that of your squadron or something?

Listen, it's very simple: you are in no position to protest the cost of the latest high-def TV just because you choose to enjoy working at the bowling alley as a dream job instead of making enough money to support a family of 5 at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant you despise, yet maybe afford a few expensive toys thanks to all your "grinding" day after day (also known by us 'normies' as earning, managing, and saving money).

Peace, Love, and Music to you. Hope you find some happiness in this game still, and as well in life. (edit: we need to be able to 'keep it real' with each other, don't you dare take any of this personally as that's not how I intend it at all! Just talkin smack at the smack you're talking and nothing but best wishes for you - we disagree, that's fine, and we can bicker all we want, let's just take away at the end of the day that we're just talking smack about a video game. peace)

If you want a Fleet Carrier, you need 5b in credits. Regardless of how long you have played the game. Regardless of what you may believe you are entitled to. 5 billion, starting price.

You into bounty hunting? Wing Assassination Missions pay exceedingly well.

Does the way you enjoy playing make it impossible to earn 5b credits? Life is full of choices.

It's obvious that FDev priced the carriers starting at 5b for a reason. The fact that you find that reason or reasons insulting, without even knowing why, is also a personal choice.

I can afford the 5b. I'm going to wait to see what FCs are good for before I buy one. That's two of my choices and I'm not blaming anyone else for them.

Ah, no no no, now I see why I was completely misunderstood. I was poking at the difference between only the CMDR having to earn 5bn Credits VS Squadron being able to do that as well.

I am refering to the situation in which Squadron can buy a Fleet Carrier. Three times. Right away from the totalled amount of credits all the CMDRs in the Squadron have. Issue is, none of them being able to do that on their own.

Well, I guess you will be using other Cmdr's carriers then.

I am against individual purchase being the only option to obtain the Fleet Carrier.

Gotcha. Yep, currently I don't know of anyway to pool resources within a squadron, unless you purchase goods, drop the purchased goods into the same spot in normal space while in a wing and then have the 'seller' collect it.

Really a PITA.

I can think of several methods your squad can use to purchase one. Several mentioned in previous pages.

Equal opportunity, not equal outcomes.

I can afford several as I made the decision when they were originally announced to make it a goal. I have worked on that since.

I mostly earned on Exploration and Mining (Painite was the easiest/fastest)
and the total is: Credits: 28,796,532,722 Cr / Assets: 31,565,206,594 Cr

Wow, frack dude, that's a lot of credits. Well done!

About 21bcr on hand with assets at about 26b. I didn't want every ship in the game. Not spending on ships and modules endlessly makes a big difference. All the ones I use though are maxed for purpose.

How cool would it be that only squadrons could purchase fleet carriers,

So what would be the point of the exploraion load out then? Or would the entire squad have to be explorers because if that was the case and I was squadron leader that's the only way they would get to see it, if they followed me around the galaxy. I think the idea of calling them FC's has become an anchor, they are essentially not FC's, the basic concept has changed enormously from when first envisaged, yes I would expect if they were still aligned with the original concept having them only available to player groups and squadrons would make sense. I rather see them now not as FC's but as large private yachts with a number of tenders, so we should rename them with that in mind.

Why would you leave the squadron you belong to? Why not, ya know, purchase the fleet carrier--with the help of your squad mates if needed-- for the squadron you belong to.

Because exploration squadrons don't tend to all remain in the same area of the galaxy, only one player would actually get to use it.

I think it's not a bad thing for certain aspects in games (especially online games) to be only acquired through certain methods and/or with certain thresholds.
A fleet carrier that costs 10-15 billion that can only be acquired as part of a squadron (I think it would have been wise that squadrons could only be created and then approved once they had minimum 5-10 members) would have inherently given fleet carriers more rarity, more stature, and a more realistic implementation.
The argument that "I want it too and I'm unwilling to do x, y, z" to get it is the most entitled thing ever. Also, how does your fun supersede my fun, ya know? Working and cooperating with other humans towards a common goal, where you can distribute roles amongst your friends, where you could divvy out commodity dividend percentages to friends, etc., that's way more fun than having a fleet carrier all to yourself. Mengy had a great idea that works for all parties involved. Wish Frontier thought of it...
