ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers Update - Beta 2 Begins!

Ok, so this time around, I have a minimally loaded FC (don't even need a shipyard module to store my own ships), bought a sh*t-ton of Tritium (filled the 1000T "tank", then l loaded another 7,000+ tons in the hold). So, sure, now I can go exploring... sort of.

The FC navigation mechanics REALLY needs improvement. So the jump range is 500LY; but I should be able to plot a longer route, and have it do multiple jumps.
Say I want to take the FC from Colonia to the bubble. Having to individually find each 500LY star is tedious beyond belief. I should be able to plot a route like with a normal ship, and then optionally set the number of jumps I want the FC to "automatically" make... which also then leads into the other issue of the 1000T "limit" of the "tank". Even if I could set a route, currently I'd then have to refill the "tank" from the "hold" after every two jumps. Given the (reasonable) prep time and cool-down time, having to manually transfer the fuel is another tedium... xfer fuel, wait 20 minutes (2 preps, 2 cool-downs), rinse repeat. There should be a "fuel tank" service module for the FC to make it feasible for exploration; allowing 5-10K of Tritium fuel to be loaded, allowing for many consecutive jumps (with the aforementioned routing abilities, of course).

1000T tank allows for 4 to 9 500LY jumps (based on carrier mass)

Hopefully they will eventually give us multi route plotting in game, from the ships bridge ;-)

I would like to see route plotting, but I'm not sure about auto jumping. It's basically quick travel while your offline, and I'm not so sure I like that.
I agree completely. If carriers get autopilot to Colonia, it’s next stop Beagle while you’re on holiday. Next people will want auto scoop & auto jump on their anacondas with infinite route plotting. Carriers are great, they will change the game, but they just made the galaxy a whole lot smaller. Let’s not make it even tinier.

Well, it technically already is, for the single jump you can do now. Set the destination, and sign off...
I think of it like transferring a ship. Start the process, and after X minutes (or hours), your ship is at it's new station.
I see no problem if we could set a route, and have the FC jump along that route until the final destination is reached, or there is not enough fuel left to make more jumps. Just need that fuel tank module, and "typical" ship routing mechanics. :)

Thats what is expected. You SHOULD be able to plot multiple jumps in a row(if you have the needed tritium) and leave it to itasmagic. Why?only because there is a TIME feature involved.IF you have to wait for something (remembrr, waiting is NOT playing) you should be able to create routes and wait fot ir while doing something else.instead of wait for 20 minutes and must go there..just TO set another jump(thiS is so stupid even hurts me to even write ir, GEEZ!.I'm sorry!)

When your FC destination system is a neutron star...
