Fleet Carriers Update - Launch Announcement

I'm a family man with a full time job, therefore I can't play all the hours in the day. But I still managed to make over 6 billion in a little under 3 weeks. It was a bit boring but now it's done.
With mining you can make like 300m in 2 hours.. a base Carrier is 5bn, so .. 16 hours .. at 2 hours a day; after 8 days, one can buy the base Carrier.
Some folk are just lazy and want ez-mode.

Owners can impose stiff tariffs for visitors who wish to use their ship’s services, letting you earn extra when Commanders sell bonds, buy modules, and more.
In Beta 1 this led to an exploit (issues 13996 and 15311) where people could get ridiculous money very quickly by using the tariff as a printer.

In Beta 2 this appeared to have been fixed ... at the cost of making tariffs no longer apply to ship and module sales.

I don't see anything in the patch notes suggesting that it's been adjusted further to allow tariffs on these services without the exploit - could you clarify this please?

Quick 21st century alert!!!: Just be wary, that this evening will probably be Microsoft Patch Tuesday for June..... You might want to consider how the timing (6PM in the evening here in the UK - not sure BST or GMT) factors in with your gameplay...

Watch out, they might also promote more PCs to be eligible for the new the 20H1 upgrade release of Windows 10. If not already on the latter, use the Windows update settings to defer the upgrade for a few days (your choice), and deicide what to do about the security updates.

As an IT security professional, I'd not normally recommend deferring security updates, but the choice is up to you. I'd normally get them done in a small known time window (within hours) after their release...

I can see someone this evening... Fleeet carriers - Great - been waiting for months...I'll just log on and buy mine... to be greeted by 40 mins of restarts whilst Windows Upgrades!!- That will not be me, as I'm not in the FC market, but I'm just waiting for the incandescent forum post about such an experience!...

Why don't you turn windows updates off like i have done?

I just think some people are unaware how fairly easy it is because of the big numbers. I don't necessarily think they are lazy.

Please read my "trade" in the post - that's a really bad idea... However this is not the place to discuss the pros and cons..
I was just trying to forewarn other commanders so that they can work around the update without unexpected interruption!!!

A new source of income
You have to spend money to make money, and there are plenty of ways to do both on your Fleet Carrier. Owners can impose stiff tariffs for visitors who wish to use their ship’s services, letting you earn extra when Commanders sell bonds, buy modules, and more. Any funds you accrue will deposit directly into your Fleet Carrier’s bank, and you can withdraw them at any time. Whether you’re feeling relaxed or ruthless, the finances are up to you.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that header... let me correct it:
A new source of expense
You have to spend money to spend (more) money, and there are plenty of ways to do both on your Fleet Carrier. Owners can impose stiff tariffs for visitors who wish to use their ship’s services, letting you cover a tiny amount of your running cost when Commanders sell bonds, buy modules, and more. Any funds you accrue will deposit directly into your Fleet Carrier’s bank (which decreases significantly every week), and you can withdraw them at any time (to see your Carrier go away). Whether you’re feeling relaxed or ruthless, the finances are up to you.

Still excited about the update, but that paragraph just felt like mockery to me :p

Ok I’m completely confused. Did I miss an announcement or something. I downloaded the update logged into the game and am sitting exactly where I was when we were in beta. Carrier is already purchased, same services I put in during beta. I thought we had to start over with the patch?

Game is back on for me on Xbox but only its the profile save of the beta. Lost so many credits and progress
Thank god for that I thought I was the only one, been mining for weeks had 8 billion, also when the snap was taken I was only 3/4 of the way to my cutter which cost me a fortune to deck out. Went on and saw it was the beta thing and I was like oh crap

If it was working that would be great, but you’ve loaded my beta save, not the one I’ve been working on... Plus my PMF has disappeared from the game again 🥳

Greetings Commanders,

"CAPITAL-CLASS SHIP DETECTED"

Fleet Carriers are now traversing beta hyperspace and they will arrive in the live Elite Dangerous galaxy today. We would like to give another big thank you to everyone who participated in the betas and provided us with the feedback to make Fleet Carriers what they are today!

For a recap of what Fleet Carriers have to offer, read below. Catch up with the full Patch Notes by clicking the link here.

These monolithic mega ships are a mobile base of operations for you and anyone you want to welcome aboard. With a 500-light-year jump range, Fleet Carriers provide a new platform for deep-space exploration and long-range travel, equipped with every essential you could ever need. No matter where you are in space, you’re home on a Fleet Carrier.

Offering a range of on-board services, capabilities, and customisation options, Fleet Carriers are truly tailored to suit your play style, offering you the ability to rearm, refuel, and repair on-the-go. Here are six great features making Fleet Carriers well worth purchasing in Elite Dangerous.

Deep Space Exploration
Exploring the far reaches of our galaxy can be a long and daunting journey. With Fleet Carriers running on newly discovered element Tritium, you can now make staggering jumps of up to 500 light-years, enabling you to establish a forward operating base and explore surrounding systems. Top up fuel reserves by mining ice asteroids to prepare for the long journey home.

Your own personal shipyard
Fleet Carriers let you bring the whole crew along for the ride. With ample room for a range of craft both above and below deck, it’s never been easier to organise your squadron. Each Fleet Carrier has 16 landing pads, allowing for eight large ships, four medium ships, and four small ships in total. Touch down and browse potential upgrades, or take the party to a new system. Your Fleet Carrier’s capacity, services, and local Superpower reputation is visible to everyone at a glance.

Control Landing Clearance
Who comes aboard your Fleet Carrier is entirely your call. Choose whether only friends have docking permission, extend the invitation to squadron members, or throw open the gates to anyone with a pulse. An additional setting lets you control if Commanders with notoriety can dock, letting you give refuge to criminals or protect your good name. Visitors can see what your Fleet Carrier’s focus is via the interface, whether that’s mining, bounty hunting, pirating, and more.

Upgrade with a range of services
Fleet Carriers are powerful, versatile, and purpose-built to work for you. Optimise your experience by adding extra features, from Universal Cartographics and Outfitting, to your own personal Redemption Officer. Keep it quiet and you might even decide to invite along a fence, who’ll facilitate the trade of illegal cargo on-board. Your Fleet Carrier, your rules.

Keep your carrier jump ready
Like any good Commander, you’ll need to employ a trusty crew to run all of the operations. Your Deck Officer, for example, is responsible for day-to-day maintenance, navigation, weaponry, and other duties. In addition, each service you introduce corresponds to a Head Crew Member. Provided you’ve got the credits to cover upkeep costs, you can turn your Fleet Carrier into its own micro economy.

We'll keep you updated on when the Fleet Carriers Update is live, but in the meantime, why not jump into our Launch Day livestream over on Twitch? We'll be joined by Head of Online, Dav Stott, to talk through Fleet Carriers and their journey from beta to launch. Don't miss it, starting at 11:00 AM UTC.

I just logged in and it’s my ship from many weeks ago (second beta snapshot?) with half my cash. I’ve been grinding like a mofo since then. What gives?

No comment from FDev on this yet.
CBA to raise a ticket as surely everyone is in the same boat?
